I know this is off topic from shocker basketball. anybody watch sportscenter last night and see UNC ashevilles monster center. This dude almost didnt even look real, it looked like something i created on my college 2k8 video game. They play UNC last night and Hansborough which is 6'10', looked like a shrimp compared to him.

KU played Asheville a few years ago and George was on that team. He's not much of a player really. He has a medical condition that contributes to his height, iirc.

Bio Courtesy of NBADraft.net:
NBA Comparison: Gheorghe Muresan
Strengths: A giant. Can literally dunk the ball without leaving his feet. His 7-foot-8 height and equally long wingspan makes him an imposing force inside to say the least ... He's able to block shots flat footed, forcing opposing teams to alter numerous shots ... The biggest intrigue in George from an NBA standpoint is the idea of throwing him in as a shot blocker and lane clogger (without drawing defensive lane violations) ... He has excellent strength and should be able to improve upon his speed and athleticism some with a better conditioning program ... He has surprising touch for a big guy with the ability to knock down some shots off of post moves and uses the glass well ... He has also shown great improvement in his free throw shooting ability ... Has good hands and rebounds the ball well in his area ... Shows a willingness to work hard and a great attitude about playing the game and trying to improve ...
Weaknesses: Very slow running the floor. His speed in the open court has shown some improvement but will need to get a lot better before he could be expected to contribute anything in the NBA ... It's questionable whether he first can pass an NBA physical, and second whether he has the quickness to keep up with the flow of traffic in the NBA to make plays in the half court set ... Because of his immense size, he has had knee problems in the past, missing two seasons after having surgery on his knee caps ... Lack of foot speed keeps him from getting to rebounds that fall out of reach of his big wingspan ... It appears likely that George has giantism (whether he has had or can have the surgery to remove the abnormality in his pituitary gland is unknown - a procedure that can have negative effects on a player's abilities) ...
Notes: Kenny George is right out of a fictional novel. If his basketball career doesn't take off, he could certainly look into a career in movies as his 7-foot-8 size could make him an Andre the Giant or Gheorghe Muresan type of star on the big screen ... Has a chance to lead college basketball in shot blocking this season ... By all reports a great kid with a lot of fans and supporters. When you see him play, it's hard not to root for him ...
They currently have him going as the last pick in the 2009 draft.Jocks & Jills
