Players "buy in" (hate that cliché) when they sign with a school. It is then up to the coaching staff to make sure that what is bought into is an effective and successful plan. Obviously, the plan is broken. WSU needs a MAJOR change in coaching staff...and in the "plan". Many of us have noted this for two years. Alas, the past two years have been a mess.

Firing IB now makes some people happy, but I don't think it will change how the team plays as there is no leadership on the sideline at all. There's is nothing to salvage this season. It's a lost cause. Let it just play out and deal with everything in March.

Shows the fanbase that ADKS is taking it serious and 2. It prevents a scenario where they level out to an "average" team finish 9-9 in conference and maybe catch lightning in a bottle and knock off Houston as one of those wins. Where we end up with just enough progress to justify saving the money until after next year only to have most of the team transfer late in the transfer portal and then we are either stuck for another year or behind the game if we fire him late after that.

Even if he manages to get them to .500, I don't see the play being inspiring enough to Saal that he holds onto him to save money. Especially if fans are still not showing up. I have little doubt that he's working the donors and figuring things out and short of winning the conference tournament and making a run to the Final Four, Brown's days in Wichita are numbered.
But on the flip side, what if by some miracle, whoever steps in as interim somehow gets the team to rally around them and play inspired and they go on a run where that coach has an impressive win record and finishes with a personal record of 11-5 or something and makes a run to the AAC title game. That's a scary thought. I don't think they're going to rally around Brown. I think he's lost them, if he ever had them. Even if you could somehow change your manner and philosophy of relationship of Coach to player, you could never change in the middle of a season and get your players to start listening to you and believing. You can’t go from a players friend to a firebrand. Can’t happen. 3G’s secret sauce, we’ve heard it many times, practices were so demanding that by the time the players got to game time, things were easy and fun.

Not his fault the university and their leadership were dumb enough to put him in a position to take an offer he literally couldn't refuse.
