Players "buy in" (hate that cliché) when they sign with a school. It is then up to the coaching staff to make sure that what is bought into is an effective and successful plan. Obviously, the plan is broken. WSU needs a MAJOR change in coaching staff...and in the "plan". Many of us have noted this for two years. Alas, the past two years have been a mess.

Firing IB now makes some people happy, but I don't think it will change how the team plays as there is no leadership on the sideline at all. There's is nothing to salvage this season. It's a lost cause. Let it just play out and deal with everything in March.
I bounce it back and forth in my head whether it makes sense to make a move now (or soon) or at the end of the season. The positive in my head for doing it soon is 1. Shows the fanbase that ADKS is taking it serious and 2. It prevents a scenario where they level out to an "average" team finish 9-9 in conference and maybe catch lightning in a bottle and knock off Houston as one of those wins. Where we end up with just enough progress to justify saving the money until after next year only to have most of the team transfer late in the transfer portal and then we are either stuck for another year or behind the game if we fire him late after that.

But is retaining the current coaching staff predicated on how they finish? Even if they turn this thing around and somehow end up around .500, the curtain has been pulled back and we see there's nothing there. I think that even some of the sunshine pumpers are starting see that we have a rudderless ship. Even if that ship somehow makes it to shore I ain't getting back on it without fixing the rudder and getting a new captain and crew.

I get that, but I also don't see that happening. I do expect us to win a few games. I don't know which ones, but they have moments when they can do enough to beat the lower teams. We are still capable of beating Tulsa, USF, SMU and ECU. Do we play ECU again? Temple is a wild card as they've been playing better the last week or two. It would take a miracle of biblical proportions to beat Houston or Memphis and a hell of a lot of luck to beat Tulane or UCF. I don't think we play Cincinnati again. I'm starting to think best case scenario for this team is 5 wins.

Even if he manages to get them to .500, I don't see the play being inspiring enough to Saal that he holds onto him to save money. Especially if fans are still not showing up. I have little doubt that he's working the donors and figuring things out and short of winning the conference tournament and making a run to the Final Four, Brown's days in Wichita are numbered.

But on the flip side, what if by some miracle, whoever steps in as interim somehow gets the team to rally around them and play inspired and they go on a run where that coach has an impressive win record and finishes with a personal record of 11-5 or something and makes a run to the AAC title game. That's a scary thought. I don't think they're going to rally around Brown. I think he's lost them, if he ever had them. There's nothing inspiring about the man.

For the first time under IB"s tenure it's visibly noticeable on social media that the pumpers are quiet. This is the first game that a majority of the IB apologists are incognito. It appears they're starting to resign to the inevitable. Of course all it takes is a USF barnburner for the delusioned to reawake. But the tide is definitely turning.

Speaking of socials, Twitter was full of snark last night and it was morbidly fun.

Isaac Brown doesn’t really come off as an arrogant person to me. Does he really not see the writing on the wall?

IB won't resign, and neither would I, with the $$$ he is owed.

Not his fault the university and their leadership were dumb enough to put him in a position to take an offer he literally couldn't refuse.

Even if you could somehow change your manner and philosophy of relationship of Coach to player, you could never change in the middle of a season and get your players to start listening to you and believing. You can’t go from a players friend to a firebrand. Can’t happen. 3G’s secret sauce, we’ve heard it many times, practices were so demanding that by the time the players got to game time, things were easy and fun.

Things have gotten so bad that I don't even recall seeing a "dawgs being dawgs" reference on here any time recently!

I spent a lot of time and $$$ trying to suppress that memory, so thanks for that....

He may not resign but the pressure could make a lesser buy out appealing as compared to sticking around another year. When a person is unsuccessful in their job, they are miserable.
