Having seen none of these kids play d1 ball I can't tell you. I would like my chances with a Mo Evans, Darin Williams, Jason Perez, Troy Mack and Terrell Benton team under competent coaching. I'd also take a Radunovich, Grayer late 80's squad.

@another shocker:, please fill us all in with the strengths and weaknesses of this "loaded" team from the reams of game film you have broken down and translated to top-50 level D1 play.

First off, you're the embarrassment to Shocker basketball, as far as this board goes, which is pretty visible.

Wichita State's last Parade AA was Aubrey Sherrod in '81.. until Jake White last year. Anybody here doubt him? I sure hope not.

Early was the first ever two time d-III juco POY. That means nothing to you. Ignore that.

Nick Wiggins. You know who is brother is- you know who is father is. Or do you? You should know what he brings.

Screw it. Too many to name.. Mitchell, Armstead, Williams etc. Maybe ShockRef can fill out the rest.. maybe a first-team juco AA Carl Hall mention even.

BOBB doesn't like jucos -- oh, well. These days short-stay players arrive at every level of quality. No doubt some people don't like the one year guys Calipari brings in, although they may -- I don't know, I don't bother looking at UK boards -- be a little quieter now that he has a national championship to show for it. I'm sure some people in Austin don't like Rick Barnes's reliance on early-out players, either, and they're probably more vocal than Kentucky fans since Barnes doesn't have the same results to show (although they were probably happy enough with Kevin Durant his year there). It's undoubtedly harder work building a team by incorporating guys who won't be around as long, but if a coach wants or needs to do it and he's good at it, which Marshall obviously is, why not? The way high-profile coaches get paid, they should work pretty hard.

To say it's an embarrassment how few rising seniors and juniors started out at WSU is silly, and it just means BOBB is easily embarrassed. Besides, the reason that's how next year's roster shakes out is because so many guys who DID start at WSU as part of Marshall's first real recruiting class have finally finished their time. Marshall has shown he knows, better than most coaches do, how to fill in when he needs to do it.

He also now, once again, has a large group of freshmen who will be starting at WSU next year. I'm guessing they'll be as successful as the first group, or more so -- probably more, because they're probably more talented, and the embarrassing johnny-come-lately players around them are better than those Marshall added out of necessity early in his career. But I'm equally as confident that BOBB and the other gripers will find something to complain about in Marshall's personnel practices even so. I'll take Marshall anyway -- I'm pretty sure he's a better coach and personnel guy than BOBB or Ref are; and if he chooses to stay long enough, I expect him to give whoever comes along next some historic targets of success, at least in the context of WSU, to shoot at.

Good thing Fran doesn't hang out on Shockernet, Mrclove -- the doomsters would eat him for lunch. It's possible he may have a bit more perspective and knowledge than we do, though.

I didn't really agree with the "Bobb is a troll" comments until this post. I don't think Ellis has played a minute of D1 basketball yet; I guess he is overrated because lower level honors don't mean anything.

I don't think he's a troll. Just a dude trying to stir up some controversy during the long off season. It's been an interesting discussion that has reached 7 pages.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and my opinion is that BOBB, while seemingly a shocker fan, has no real evidence to support his view point. Citing hyped players who didnt pan out from 1990's teams is not a strong argument. This is 2012. Gregg Marshall is not Scott Thompson. How someone who obviously sat through the worst period in the programs history can be embarrassed by the current coach and team is beyond my comprehension.
