I couldn't afford to fly to Portland, those were $800 - $1000 tickets! I flew to Seattle for $250.

There is a $600,000 to $1 million gap b/t what SASO raises and the scholarship expenses for all of the student athletes. (Any current member of SASO please correct me if I wrong.)

The gap is filled by the University.

The only practical way to completely close that gap is to re-seat the arena.

The gap is filled by operation budget like ticket fees and sponsorships. The gap is only 300k not 600k. 70% of the budget is self generated and 30% comes from university. 90% of all athletic departments recieve opposite 70% from university and 30% self generated. So basically, the shox are in pretty damn good shape.

I have to wonder if WSU has the elasticity of demand curve wrong on ticket prices. This was the best team in my lifetime and they couldn't sell out. I think continued increases in cost will result in more empty seats especially in what many casual fans will think is a down year.


More butts in the seats is better for sponsors, concessions, and overall program growth. I would hate to see the average attendance continue to decline.
