I'll forward that on to PJ, maybe he'll give it a try...

He shouldn't have to. Remember when Michael Jordan made that free throw in a game with his eyes closed? I'm not saying PJ is Jordan at all, because he's far from it, but he should have taken so many free throws in his life it shouldn't be hard to make them without looking. i.e. He should have a feel for how the shot feels off his hands.
Yeah, MJ and PJ are on the same level.

Ummm.... did I say that? No. No I didn't. Read the post again:

As a kid I shot air rifles competitively. We were told to exhale, zero in, squeeze the trigger.

You are more relaxed after exhaling and this helps improve accuracy. I don't know if it translates to shooting FTs or not. Without getting up from my desk and making a fool of myself, I think I use the same technique when shooting FTs.

          Just my $.02.

Previously, he had Miller, Wilson, Ogirri and others who shared much of the pressure. Is there a chance that P.J.'s make up lends itself better to being a secondary threat rather than the main man on the team? Maybe too much pressure?

I don't know, just throwing it out to see who bites.
I have no idea why his free throw shooting has suffered, but the secondary threat part is right on the money. PJ is an awesome team player, and a terrific secondary threat. He lacks the weapons needed to be the primary threat. His shooting has never been great, but always serviceable. He has primarily thrived on driving to the basket to score or assist. He has always in the past had enough weapons around him that the defense could not use 2 or 3 defenders to stop him because he is such a good passer that he would find an open man who would likely hit the shot. This year, teams are double and triple teaming him when he goes into the lane. If he were 3-4 inches taller, he might be able to score over that kind of defense, but at 6'4'' it makes it very difficult for him to score the basketball. This year, when he kicks it back out it has usually resulted in a missed shot. He will probably continue to struggle the rest of the year unless the rest of the team improves their shooting by leaps and bounds, which isn't likely to happen this season.

P.J. needs to shoot under handed Free Throws like Wilt. If that doesn't work, then he needs to blink 7 times, shuffle his feet like James Brown, spin the ball on his left foot and then shoot. I've done it, 60% of the time it works every time.

No, no, no. You are wrong. He needs to take up the Don Nelson technique.

Nelson was an extra fine NBA free throw shooter.

It has never been imitated....and it is not likely.

All I know is he would be scoring about twice what he is now if he made his free throws. When he does make them it seems its always the second shot. Missing the front end of one and ones just kills us. They are free after all I mean if your get to shoot them might as well take the time to make them. Now if he wants to go out and put up 35 a game and miss his free throws like shaq used to then thats one thing i could probably live with but thats not the case so we could use some free points.

Actually Rick Barry was a pretty good underhanded free throw shooter.

Nobody tops Henry Carr on style points. His 'statue of liberty' free throw shooting was just hilarious but it really did help him. Heck, it should be the penalty style for anyone shooting <60%.
