Well, Shaka looked like a more classy coach in defeat than he was in victory the other night.

I'd love to know what was so important to say to Carl Hall that he raced through the rest of the hand shake line. Looked like he was trying to make a point.

Excuse me for not embracing the ram love fest.

I have enjoyed hearing from a majority of VCU fans, however, I will never be able to root for Shaka Smart and am very glad that he lost tonight to a truly "classy" coach. I guess little jug-eared Shaka got sent back to VA. Shaka appeared to be more classy in defeat than in victory!

Now that I'm done being bitter, I apologize to the VCU fans who have been classy in their representation of their team and rooting interest. I just can't stand Shaka, something doesn't add up as honorable concerning him...at least for me! I hope I'm wrong for the sake of VCU's mostly classy fan base.

I'm just trying to understand our posting regulations here on SN. We can't make derrogatory remarks about our coaches or players (nor should we) but it is permissible and okay to call another coach a "classless little scuzzball' and "jug-eared"? Just would like an explanation as to how far we are entitled to carry the discussion in regard to other coaches and players.

Wait a minute here!!! There'd be no game threads when we play the BlowJays and Hillbilly Bares.

As far as we want, unless they become insensitive to a protected class like race, religion or gender. Then it becomes over the top and out of line. Making fun of someone's looks and questioning their class is fair game.

My question is this: does all this vitriol hatred stem from that end of game incident Thursday night? If so, that is a lot to read into a three second snapshot.

              You can't be serious?

Good Lord. Dry it up. This isn't a VCU board.

Wait a minute. Gregg Marshall didn't see this Shaka Smart "Special" coming? Because I sure didn't. I do look forward to the rematch in November though. Maybe they'll finally see the real deal Wichita State in Virginia next year, if they're lucky.

I find this ironic...outside our fan base many look at Marshall the same way many on this board are classifying Shaka. Marshall isn't a choir boy and neither is Shaka. So Marshall and Shaka aren't going to coexist together at the PTA meetings...big deal. VCU has gotten it done when it matters the past 2 years, which is our next mission on the bucket list.

I just don't like the idea of Shaka, out of the coaches box with one or both feet on the playing surface in a defensive stance. Meanwhile, every other coach gets told to get back into the box. If it crowds the floor and takes up space, it is an unfair advantage. I also don't appreciate the snide comments about "punking" WSU and sending them back to Kansas.

I guess some of you want to censor me because I don't like the guy. You are overly sensitive and are probably the same people who made statements like..."if Larry Bird were black, he'd be just another basketball player."

                        Flame away!

I don't care for Shaka's demeanor, but nobody spends as much time on the court as HCGM.

You apparently don't watch much basketball...every coach in America coaches "outside" the designated coaching area. Shaka doesn't have a free pass on that one. And Larry Bird was just another basketball player...one that was a 12 All-Star, 3-time MVP, 2-time Finals MVP, voted to the 50th Anniversary All-Star Team, was part of 3 world championship Celtic teams. Other than that he was just another basketball player.

Very true, but I've never seen him play "6th man" on defense. Is it too much to ask for a whistle and at least a bench warning when a coach causes the opponent with a live ball in play to actually change his path? Shaka's Spider-Man poses made both the ref AND Joe veer out of the way during live play. Smart has weak emotional sauce if he has to resort to that to pump up his players or call out D sets...
