My understanding, from a source very close to this situation, was that Gregg Marshall privately offered to do something like the above with former interim President Rick Muma and was turned down.
If thats true ... then yes ... fire the entire administration.

Yep. I have seen and heard all I need. The incompetence is palpable.

If this is the truth, my entire statement is basically invalidated and the entire situation was terribly mishandled.

The University definitely lost a lot when President Bardo passed. Muma is not what we needed.

Bardo set a high bar that we are unlikely to find again IMO.

I also have a source very close to the situation and this is 100% accurate. GM "threw himself at the mercy of the court." He offered to do whatever the administration wanted, to stay at WSU. The investigation conclusions were something along the lines of either Boatright has to go or Marshall. And Muma chose Boatright.

Gregg Marshall deserved to get fired. No matter if this program never reaches the NCAA Tournament again, there is no scenario where he should've remained the head coach of this program. He made a very costly mistake that are (almost) unexcusable for a coach at ANY level that day by striking one of his players. That alone didn't have to and shouldn't have had to result in his firing, thus the almost. However, when some of the biggest Shocker hoops alumni come out (including Ron Baker) come out and say "Yeah, he did it. He did a lot of amazing stuff for me and family though too." you can't put out a statement denying that any of the accusations ever happened and acting like you did no wrong. If Marshall would've publicly apologized, taken a fairly hefty suspension and some kind of PR stunt anger management class, he would still be here. It's not all on him, either. In his situation, knowing that the AD knew and covered it up, he had a way to ensure he at the very least got a very well paid long term vacation out of it, and he took that safe route which nobody blames him for. At this point it's fairly well known that although the program wasn't perfect and there were certainly some toxic elements, winning made up for it until that point. It could've kept making up for it if Gregg had admitted it and we could've moved forward as a university, ala Juwan Howard, Boeheim with the child creeper on staff, Pitino and the abortion etc. Gregg is an incredible person, incredible community member of Wichita, and a great leader of young men who has a competitive fire and energy that sometimes gets him into trouble. He could've worked past that if the circumstances were different. They weren't, and WSU made the only right choice in the situation. He's not coming back and given the way things went down, the right decisions were ultimately made. It really f'in sucks, and a-holes like Good Man (and to a lesser extent, our former #24), made the situation worse for their personal gain. We ALL still wish Gregg Marshall was our head man. But with the hand the university was dealt, the appropriate choice was made.

                Sorry for the rant.
To add to this, Even if Marshall said he was sorry and came back, I'm not sure we'd ever regain the glory of the early 2010's. Marshall teams were on the decline towards the end. In the transfer era, players are less likely to put up with the abuse.

That's not players being "soft." Players are the same now that they've ever been. It's also across the board and not just the players we happened to have the last few years. A lot of people like to point fingers at Erik and call him a problem and--while they are certainly right--I'd also wonder how many people would stay at a job if their boss struck them or talked sexually about their spouse or did the other things Marshall did at WSU. Anyone with options would be out, and I'm sure most would commiserate with others and try to help them get out, too.

Not having the PITA and stigma of a "transfer" has changed things. Coaches like Marshall at schools like WSU are done.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

Ooof .. yea .. get rid of Muma if that's true.

Like I’ve said, Marshall WANTED to stay. WSU did not want him to.

I’ve been very careful about what I’ve said out of respect, but the truth will get out eventually.

So wait...let me make sure I'm understanding the commentary here correctly:

Marshall was willing to apologize, attend anger management, etc. The whole 9 yards

Muma/DB didn't care and wasn't willing for him to do the above. They had made up their mind regardless of what 3G was or wasn't willing to do?

If this is true, fire the lot of them. 3G allegedly did some pretty bad stuff but let's not act like every D1 basketball coach is a saint. I don't condone any abuse but I do believe in second chances unless you've done something outrageous.

All water under the bridge but we're still stuck with these people who made these decisions (if true). If this was the political forum I would go on to other thoughts related here...

What if, and I’m not saying I’ve heard anything, but what if Muma said Marshall made too much money and needed to go? And by getting rid of Marshall, Boaty McBoatface was rewarded with a huge raise and extension?
