Looking at his numbers, I thought Tyson deserved 3rd team All-Conference. Anyone who thought that Porter or Council deserved it more didn't watch the same team play that I did. Porter and Council are not better players than Tyson, they just aren't.

The most accurate metric to look at when evaluating one player against another is the PER rating, which measures efficiency all around and attempts to normalize discrepancies in things like minutes played, etc. The higher the number the better.

TE = 10.42 PER
CP = 14.35 PER
RCIV = 16.13 PER

DD proved to the world that he can cover our foes like a cheap suit. Justice prevailed. RC is a true and gifted player with plenty more improvements to follow. I thought TE might be on the 2nd team but not shocked he ended up on the third team. I'm happy for each of these players. Count me among the ones that wanted KP to get several more minutes than he received. His day in the sun will follow. Porter was improved and just keeps gaining more confidence. If he returns, I could see him landing in these awards lists somewhere next Season.

The point being it’s not all just about the numbers or ppg. Watching them play should only reinforce the notion that Tyson isn’t the best player. I’m not sure how anyone would argue that this year.

Anybody else think that if TE hadn't have been co-player of the year last year, he wouldn't have been on any list. I honestly don't think he is one of the best 15 players in the AAC. Is he capable of being one, sure. But he didn't earn it this season. Wonder how often a player of the year has fallen to 3rd team.

To be fair, look at the number of first round picks on the third team All-AAC. Theres a Lebron James, James Harden, Kevin Durant, Fred VanVleet, and our very own Steph Curry.

Fever, I just respectfully disagree. I watched them all play this year and IMO Tyson is the best player. If you had Eldridge poll the coaches and asked "Who is the best player this year on WSU?"

I think there would be 9 or more votes for Tyson. Maybe 1 or 2 for Porter.

Tyson is a good shooter when open, the best on the team. He tried too hard to be other things, to the detriment of this team and his post season accolades. This year proved he is not ready for the next level, but that's up to him to figure out.

"best player" is subjective. He is not the best defender, best ball handler, best passer, best finisher, best shot creator, best one-one one player. He's just a good catch and shoot player.

Dumb question: Any specific criteria for being considered a 6th man regarding total starts? Could that possibly be the reason JP was reinserted the past few games? I can't think of any other reason. I hope pursuing awards didn't factor into any kind of personnel decision but ya never know.
