  • We were instrumental in paving the way for VCU last Season to become famous. If we won the game here at 21st and Hillside,(thought we did but we got the late, late, late whistle), we might have danced (not sure) and I doubt VCU would have. However, from there, they make the Final 4 and also beat KU much easier than they beat us. Impressive to say the least. They got smokin hot at an awesome time and found ways to win way beyond the bracket picks of the masses.

Now it is out turn to win. However, VCU is a very hot team right now, are used to winning, and do play tough, tough D. Thus, I still say we will win, but we have to play our A game. This game will be a nail biter, barn burner, down to the wire type game. Some will scream, most will yell and cheer,, the players from both teams will give their all, dive for lose balls, and one team will out execute the other in the end. The winner takes the early spoils and advances and the loser better know they left it all on the floor. These are among the oodles of reasons we all call it----"MARCH MADNESS!!!" VCU, we do have to keep meeting like this but now we must do you as we finally did George Mason, and won the following Season. By that I mean, we MUST win this coming Thursday this very Season versus VCU. We ALL know it won't be easy.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

    • Saw just enough of Obama's bracket to know he chose VCU over us and then they lose to Indiana.

I think it's a statement to our conference that Drexel, with their horrible OOC SOS, was in the conversation to make the tournament. Drexel has a damn good team and it was unfortunate that they didn't make the dance. I can't say that they deserved a bid, because they didn't play a great schedule, but they were certainly good enough. It is what it is though...

Anyway, I think both teams are going to put on a great show tomorrow night! Good luck guys!

This is exactly the problem with the selection process...Sometimes teams can't control who they play in OOC. Sometimes its a negotiating process that never fully comes full circle because one team wants something that the other won't give up.

Prime example: UVa agreed to play a H/H with VCU last season...then some of their guys came to a practice of ours. Soon after, "it wasn't in the best interest of their program" to play us. Translation: You guys could beat us and that would suck because an ACC team got beat by a mid-major and it would hurt our OOC record. :stupid:

            • We, as a non-BCS conference are in the same boat. I think we need to drop the bracket buster and have an MVC/CAA challenge, during the regular non-con, not at the end of the conference season. Those games have too much riding on them when most teams are bubble teams. It is almost like a play in round.

Probably because we play in Charles Koch Arena! :tennis:

He needs the Virginia vote and knows he's not going to win KS.

A bunch of us at GMU have been advocating that since 2006. Seems like a win-win for both conferences -- quality potential RPI-bosting match ups.

Better yet, merge the two conferences in to a super conference!

We've played NMSU twice. At the very beginning of the season they came into the Pit and worked us in front of a sold out crowd. At that point, we UNM fans thought that our team just sucked. But it turns out that NMSU is extremely solid.

I've watched them play a few times, granted in the WAC, but they play bigger than they are and seem to always dominate the paint. McKines is an absolute monster with inside/outside game. His beast-mode factor is increasing as the season progresses - virtually unstoppable.

They go to the foul line A LOT, but if they aren't hitting free throws or if your perimeter shots are falling then you can embarrass them. That's how we took our revenge on December 28 in Cruces when we shot our way to a 20 point blowout win.

Personally, I think the Indiana matchup is a toss up. If Indiana does not shoot particularly well, watch the Hoosiers get beat soundly.

P.s., we're all in Portland together. I'll be at WSU-VCU making some noise. Hope to see a large contingent of shocker fans.
