We could have easily won 5 or so more games, with a disciplined team who made good decisions, and played as a team. During some games we've played like a team but in several losses, we didn't. 17 or 18 wins would look very good right now.
    Roster is a big issue. We have one pg. We don't have anyone that can play behind Tyson. RC4/DD are our only serviceable 3/4. Our 5 spot has either a turnover machine or a freshman who can't play with the best bigs in the conference yet. I do think there are coaching issues, but I think those issues are compounded because of the roster.

    Our rosters without Fred still had an NBA guard and a handful of other players that could score. The McDuffie team probably overperformed and fits the description of playing like a team, and the last GM team did not play as a team, which is why they cratered at the end of the year.

      With the transfer portal making things a year-by-year proposition, I don't think it has to take that long to build the program back to respectability. I question whether we will see a Top 10 ranking anytime soon, but a high-quality new coach could get us back in the NCAA Tournament in short order, especially since The American will not be quite as strong once the realignment moves take place.

        2. Many players, a few we will surely miss, will leave after the season ends;
        3. HCIB will find 2* transfers that are tired of sitting the bench elsewhere, and mid-level JUCO players to fill the roster;
        4. The Shocks will have another rough year next year; and
        5. HCIB will be replaced with a "Name" coach.

        Beyond that, I'd think that "name" coach will need at least 5 years to build a new program from basically scratch. That leaves the program to wonder in the wilderness for a minimum 6 years. I do feel for HCIB. He did some good work last year, and while the stars did align for him, he managed the weirdness of the season and got the team to the tournament. I think he will be a good head coach someday. He just needs to go get some HC experience before he tries to coach a top 50 program again.

        I've thought about it and I'll not quibble over giving HCIB his contracted time. That die is cast. I even think he deserves the gig as payback for rescuing the program last year. I suppose if the deep pockets decide to pay him out, I'd be ok with that also.
        1. Very likely
        2. Definitely
        3. Quite possibly
        4. Agreed
        5. Nope. IB won't be replaced next year and I'm not sure who trusts DB to bring in a name coach, and he likely isn't going anywhere. IB will almost definitely get three years, remember that the first one didn't count towards his contract. If DB somehow does get canned or chooses to move on for some reason, things can change. But DB isn't landing a name or an alpha of any kind to run the basketball program.

        And a NAME or good coach, can turn things around in a couple of years. The right coach can re-energize the fanbase and bring the big money donors back into the conversation. Year one would be difficult. Year two would show improvement and year three we'd start to see where things are really going to go and then they build from there.

        But again, I don't think any of this happens until Boatright is gone. The money isn't coming back while he's here unless he somehow figures out how to bring in an alpha dog that can truly lead and inspire.

          As a fan, I'm willing to give HCIB the offseason to hit the reset button and maybe learn from his mistakes this season. I do not think HCIB is incapable of improvement, but he will need to prove that he is capable of leading a program at this level. However, this team needs a major roster overhaul to go with improved coaching. A lot of players on this team are not AAC-caliber. Of this roster, I hope we keep Ricky Council, Kenny Pohto, Craig Porter Jr, and the redshirts (especially Jalen Ricks).
          Pretty much on par with my thought.

            Yesterday was the second time this year I actually forgot there was a game on. Yes, I had a busy day, but that's nothing new, and for years I'd record the game and then try to avoid seeing the score. I literally forgot completely until I got an alert on my phone last night. I don't consider myself a bandwagoner at all, I watched consistently through the 90s. But there's literally nothing to get excited about.

            Give me one reason we ought to be optimistic about the future with Isaac Brown. I don't think he's a great coach, but maybe he can get better. I'm not convinced he's a great recruiter. What does he have to sell now? That he took a conference champion and with basically the same roster led them to a 9th place finish the next year? Soon there rightfully will be job security issues that further hurt recruiting.

            I hope I'm wrong, and my guess is he will get at least a couple more years to prove us all wrong.

              I agree with the past poster who said that GM would have won more games with this roster. I didn't say it wasn't an issue, but this team still had the ingredients of a team who could win enough to be in the top half of our conference, but not while taking bad shots, and not playing team ball. IB isn't the one to lead this team. There is no discipline, and when we don't hit shots (which happens more often than not), we don't win. We had a good enough roster to beat KSU, Cincy once, Tulane twice, North Texas, and win another game or two on the road.

                If we lose at Tulsa, we won't have won a single conference road game. Let that sink in for a second. This program was once the best road team in America.

                  Still waiting to see what all these ex-players see in IB.

                  This is why you can’t trust players to pick a coach.

                    That wasn't long ago either. Ugh!

                      This will be telling, do the players love HCIB or not. Is there any loyalty?

                      3. HCIB will find 2* transfers that are tired of sitting the bench elsewhere, and mid-level JUCO players to fill the roster;
                      Anybody looking at who WSU is recruiting - should be very scared unless he has some secret offers out.

                      4. The Shocks will have another rough year next year; and
                      Sure looks like it.

                      5. HCIB will be replaced
                      HCIB won't be replaced after next year. He will be get as much time as Wedge gets. Sports Daily hinted today that HCIB is being treated differently than HCEW and said it without saying it "racism".

                      with a "Name" coach.
                      I don't believe WSU will get a name coach. The AAC will not be today AAC, it will be more like MVC+.

                      And DB has to be hoping that the dumbed down AAC is so bad that the WSU turd floats to the top

                        But the truth was boiling to the top. We were missing out on more and more recruits as word was getting around, and when the story broke in the national media, Marshall was good as gone.

                        Gregg bears just as much of the blame for this mess as Isaac Brown. If a grown ass man can't keep his hands of a bunch of 18, 19, and 20 year old kids (and can't keep from threatening them or their girlfriends), he has no place as a coach.
                        Yea, Gregg mean - Isaac nice

                        how's that working out for everyone?

                          They had the evidence they chose to ignore and could have fried him for "just cause".

                              I don't think they had enough evidence to give him the electric chair.

                                There was evidence, but it was covered .. so equal fault = split the payout so neither side has to go to court.
                                They caught Juwan Howard in 4K and all he got was a slight suspension.
