It is the chicken and the egg again....a pairing of great performance against a weak schedule and how the committee views it...
Performance...
Drexel is hot...has won 27 games with six losses....went January 2 to March 5 without a loss...
But....RPI is 66 and the SOS is an eye catching 208. 23 of the 27 wins were for wins over teams with an RPI of 100+ and 13 of those wins came from +200 RPI teams.
Drexel has one win over a team of 50 and below RPI and 4 wins under 100 RPI
The question is...how does this stack up to bubble teams from a power conference....I chose Miami as a team on the bubble...
Miami is 18-11....RPI of 56, SOS of 40...two wins over a team 50 & below RPI (one over a current Top Five) and three wins under 100 RPI. One loss over 100 RPI vs three losses for Drexel over 100.
Drexel and Miami pair up fairly decently...Drexel has one more sub 100 RPI win, Miami has better wins...
If the committee wants to see 'em play, Drexel will get the nod....But I don't think that the formulas will be the decider...JMHO
