Nope...The ACC has said to Notre Dame...al sports or you don't play in our conference...

They very much were...Pac 12 was taking OU, OSU, UT and TT, no room for KU there. B1G = NO, SEC=NO, ACC =NO....The BE was going to step in and offer KU, KSU and ISU but then their conference started to implode and the BIG12 flipped the script on them. I think the BIG 12 is going to be OK now and will add at least L'Ville and BYU plus there is a chance they add FSU and Clemson. But who really knows at this point...Fact is for WSU, their options are very limited and I hate to c that.

            2. Our new Prez and AD and their multiple future successors actively pursue and take the lead in forming a new non-football playing conference?

            3. We sit back and watch CU, MSU, and perhaps other MVC schools over the next 50 years or so pursue greener pastures, but good ol' ultra conservative WSU, Bradley, Drake, and Evansville remain true to the MVC and welcome Emporia State, Fort Hays, and Heights HS into the league?

            4. We swallow the bullet and bring back football in the year 2525 (If man is still alive?) at the total cost of one trillion trillion $ plus change?

            5. Do absolutely nothing so that our great, great, great, great grandchildren will have something else to ***** about besides KU and why they won't play us?

              Go Shocks!
Given that the most successful football team in the MVC football conference (UNI) runs in the red by $200,000 and takes around $1,000,000 in student fees and school $. It would take around $50 - $100 million endowment to ensure a profitable football program.

I heard awhile back that the NCAA was looking at adding women's beach volleyball as a sanctioned sport. Never heard anything more about it. Too bad, I'd pay money for that.

Can you imagine a division of Creighton, SLU, Wichita, Dayton and Xavier all together? Those would be some fun games.
I could dig that. Surely Butler would want in on the fun.

Yeah, and we need another thread about something that's already being discussed in 20 other threads. As for your original comment, it really made no sense. You're saying WSU is "Basketball only" school. WSU has a lot of other sports that we play well, hence the reason why we get win the All Sports trophy year after year. ...then you said your argument was sports that "generate real revenue". Make sure you do some research before you make a comment like that. If that's the criteria for whether or not a sport counts, football wouldn’t count at most schools.

True WSU has many sports....good point. But only one makes significant money. As far as ur post on football and revenues is concerned....then why is Nova is trying to get D1 status in football........because its a real money loser?.....lol. Of the 110+ D1 schools in CFB most if not all provide the majority of that schools athletic budget from football. Ill put it this way...how many of the lower level D1 football schools (UNLV, UTEP, Utah St ect) are looking to drop football.........crickets.

I think people forget that Football brings in other money as well. I don't know how it's all calculated, but there are more donations, more liscenced merchandise is sold and odds are enrollment would increase. That brings in a lot of money that isn't credited to football directly.

If football was the money loser that so many want to claim, there wouldn't be so many smaller schools starting it up and/or trying to move their programs up.

Does anyone have 25 million plus dollars to put into the stadium to get that eyesore back to shape? This has to happen before the very thought of football can come back. No? Then lets just drop the whole conference talk. The best scenario is for the MVC expand by bringing in programs like ORU, Butler, etc., who are good at basketball.

The biggest piece of that is the increased enrollment. Years ago "Fred" did an analysis of what the cost was of dropping football but at the same time had kind of a conspiracy theory about the BOR and others in an attempt to keep WSU in its place. The analysis was interesting in that enrollment was a huge piece of the way the state reimbursed the schools or tied money to enrollment. It wasn't so much the loss of tuition dollars but what seemed to be an exponential amount tied to enrollment. If "Fred" or someone remembers how this was please add it on. I think Freds full name was Fred Marrs? Calls in on some of the live shows.

I agree that unless monies are set aside for the whole enchilada it makes no sense to rob existing programs to fund something that would be a financial drain for years. I don't see adding teams that can't make the ncaa tournament as an at large bid on their own merit as adding alot to the mo valley. Sorry I just get antsy about adding more private schools unless it would be Duke or SMU that has a butt load of money. The last sentence has a big smiley face attached.
