I would take Porter over AG. If you go back and look at the Tulane game we were rolling until HCIB took Porter out with around 7 or 8 minutes to go. We started losing the lead and by the time he put Porter back in we were struggling. Then the plays all started going through Tyson and we never recovered. I did like AG as our pg better than anyone else on this team besides Porter though.

CP also brings rebounding and is the #1 shot blocker for his size in the country.

Agreed. Porter is so vital to this team on offense.

Good point. Way more upside with Porter.

Hell, I wanted more of Porter last year. When he was healthyish, the team ran better with him than AG. AG was constantly criticized last year, and rightfully so, for dribbling too much and being selfish and playing way too much hero ball. That is exactly the opposite of what this team needs, and is not what CP is.

Make that 5. I like Craig but our offense was a bigger threat last year as lame as it might have been. Craig has improved through this season but he got his pocket picked early in the season and was zero threat to score. He didn’t even look at the basket. We find ourselves in these player comparison arguments but it’s mostly about the instruction.

I think AG was a better penetrator and dish guy, as well as drawing fouls, but presented little scoring ability.
While CP doesn't seem to draw the fouls and less dishes, he does have good ability to score.
Porter can also rebound, and block shots. He shoots a little better than Alterique from the outside, but all Gilbert could do is penetrate and then lose the ball on turn overs.

As I said, it would have been sweet to have Porter and AG instead of Porter and QG (who is still learning to play at this level).

Patently false. The turnovers and downturn started with Craig and Ricky making a couple of unforced turnovers. The only positives during the final stretch were Tyson making some shots.

This ... The argument shouldn't be would we be better with Porter or Gilbert... If Gilbert came back we wouldn't have Qua... And I doubt there is any argument that Gilbert isn't better than Qua right now. Right now when Porter goes out we struggle. I'd love to be able To swap them in and out

You forget about the AAC Tournament, and Drake? Our offense was non-existent. Go back and watch. Alterique could penetrate so teams started to let him shoot outside and go underneath screens. AG’s 3 point shooting was 28% so teams gave him lots of open outside looks, and he obliged them with misses.
