Excellent points. Defenses left us open out there because we had no one that could make a 3. So what does the coaching staff do? Nothing. Let dawgs be dawgs and let them fire em up anyway, anytime, anywhere with no accountability.

And lol at the 30 footers. I’m sure they counted those as open too. Tyson took at least 5 of those a game. I wonder how many of those he made during the course of the year? Certainly not 40%, like some of the clowns were saying at the beginning of the year after the Jacksonville State miracle went in. That shot might’ve just opened Pandora’s box for the year.
      Deuces Valley.
      ... No really, deuces.

      • Where we go from here largely depends mostly on how much IB
learns about himself, HIS weaknesses, and how to use the players
he ends up with effectively. He allowed too many players too much
leeway to play selfishly. Good coaches are able to recognize the
weaknesses of opponents and how to exploit. All I can say is that IB
seems to have a lot to learn. I don't think the TEAM improves if TE and
MU return. They are who they are and neither are team players. This
goes for some subs, as well, namely Jackson and Jenkins.

I think Monzy could be a great player for the right coach. He went downhill under the IB system. Hell, I think that holds true for most on the team.

There are definitely lots of things that coaching can take blame .. but I think it's key to realize part of it is the players just aren't good shooters. So lets recognize that and get someone in that can do that rather than blanket stamp everything with "coaching problem". Then its up to coaching to make sure THOSE players are the ones getting these open shots.
            • The 40.3% shooting percentage is the worst since 1998 and the third-worst shooting season since 1957, although it’s fair to point out it wasn’t far off from the last three seasons: 40.8% in 2019, 40.7% in 2020 and 40.5% in 2021.
The shooting was bad but it's been bad across multiple coaches with a lot of these same players.
But when we lose, what are the first words out of IB's mouth, every time? I'll tell you what he always says "We lost because of our defense". We need to play better defense if we expect to win.

But YOU are not accounting for the following statistics that show a lack of any kind of an offense to get better shots. This year, we shot more 3's than any of our recent teams, and this team also has more turn overs than assists for the first time in a while. Again, that shows a lack of coaching (both at practice and in game adjustments).

Often at the end of the clock, after not running anything but a crappy offense (just passing the ball).

                • At the very least, I believe I can reasonably expect some turnover with assistants. I know these are the same guys Marshall had (with the exception of Kennedy), but there are some major shortcomings on technique, skills, timing, etc., and I think a lot of that falls on the assistants.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

If you want to blanket everything as coaching that's fine. You can spin it that way and it half makes sense. Problem is .. coaching isn't changing this year. So i'm trying to focus on "where we go from here". If you want to just scream coaching for the next 3 years and make no other changes .. fine ... do that.

Coaching or not, we got more unguarded looks than 90% of D1. We didn't hit them. Whether that's because of a bad definition of what an Unguarded shot is .. or we had the wrong people taking those shots ... i don't know. I do know my eyes line up with what synergy is saying. We bricked a **** ton of wide open shots this year. Many by people that should be good shooters. So to me, one step on "where we go from here" is prioritize a shooter or two. Or hire a shooting coach. Something to improve shooting.

Second reason why we likely took a lot of 3s is we have no inside game. Mo is undersize and Kenny floated to the 3 pt line more often than banging down low because he's not strong enough yet. If we can keep Kenny, he needs to work on that inside game. We also need to get someone else inside that's bigger than 6'8. Then we can try to get a game plan going for someone down low.

                    • To answer the threads question directly, “where do we go from here?”

                      Further down.

I didn’t watch a single game after the horrific showing vs KSU. I used to watch every dame religiously. I found myself forgetting WSU was playing, or just not caring to even follow the stats. My wife is happy I have more family time back.

It's coaching, no matter what you want to call it. We were undisciplined this year, and took bad shots over and over and over again. IB didn't require them to run a disciplined offense. He emphasized getting the ball inside to Mo, but usually, when they did, Mo either shot the ball or turned it over. He rarely passed it back out again, for a good, open shot.

We didn't have a better inside game last year, either, but we did take better shots.

Cool, you can keep harping on that for 3 years. I'll focus on what we can do until we can reasonably change coaches. Probably best for you to log off for 3 years because what you want to change can't happen without a huge donation.

You're just "spinning your wheels", thinking you're saying something important, but it won't amount to anything. You're probably the one yesterday, who called in to Mike and mentioned our "talented" coaching staff. LOL

You're just "spinning your wheels" screaming about coaching thinking it's going to do jack **** over the next 3 years but it wont amount to anything.

You have no answers. I'm at least right. I've been around for 60+ years. I do need a vacation.
