Excellent points. Defenses left us open out there because we had no one that could make a 3. So what does the coaching staff do? Nothing. Let dawgs be dawgs and let them fire em up anyway, anytime, anywhere with no accountability.

And lol at the 30 footers. I’m sure they counted those as open too. Tyson took at least 5 of those a game. I wonder how many of those he made during the course of the year? Certainly not 40%, like some of the clowns were saying at the beginning of the year after the Jacksonville State miracle went in. That shot might’ve just opened Pandora’s box for the year.

he ends up with effectively. He allowed too many players too much
leeway to play selfishly. Good coaches are able to recognize the
weaknesses of opponents and how to exploit. All I can say is that IB
seems to have a lot to learn. I don't think the TEAM improves if TE and
MU return. They are who they are and neither are team players. This
goes for some subs, as well, namely Jackson and Jenkins.

I think Monzy could be a great player for the right coach. He went downhill under the IB system. Hell, I think that holds true for most on the team.

That's fair .. but i'm not sure how you correct getting the 32nd most unguarded shots while being ranked 295th in hitting those .... That's on the players .. and likely something that isn't going to be changed during the middle of a season. There are definitely lots of things that coaching can take blame .. but I think it's key to realize part of it is the players just aren't good shooters. So lets recognize that and get someone in that can do that rather than blanket stamp everything with "coaching problem". Then its up to coaching to make sure THOSE players are the ones getting these open shots.

This year, we shot more 3's than any of our recent teams, and this team also has more turn overs than assists for the first time in a while. Again, that shows a lack of coaching (both at practice and in game adjustments).

Question: Is jacking up a 30 footer without making a pass considered an unguarded shot?

Often at the end of the clock, after not running anything but a crappy offense (just passing the ball).

At the very least, I believe I can reasonably expect some turnover with assistants. I know these are the same guys Marshall had (with the exception of Kennedy), but there are some major shortcomings on technique, skills, timing, etc., and I think a lot of that falls on the assistants.

Whether that's because of a bad definition of what an Unguarded shot is .. or we had the wrong people taking those shots ... i don't know. I do know my eyes line up with what synergy is saying. We bricked a **** ton of wide open shots this year. Many by people that should be good shooters. So to me, one step on "where we go from here" is prioritize a shooter or two. Or hire a shooting coach. Something to improve shooting.

Second reason why we likely took a lot of 3s is we have no inside game. Mo is undersize and Kenny floated to the 3 pt line more often than banging down low because he's not strong enough yet. If we can keep Kenny, he needs to work on that inside game. We also need to get someone else inside that's bigger than 6'8. Then we can try to get a game plan going for someone down low.

I didn’t watch a single game after the horrific showing vs KSU. I used to watch every dame religiously. I found myself forgetting WSU was playing, or just not caring to even follow the stats. My wife is happy I have more family time back.
