The coaching is awful. How much longer should it go on before a change should be made. Emphasis on should because we all know the athletic dept and administration are fine with a neutered basketball program. Who answers what will not be public.

What future coach would want to take a job where the previous coach was fired mid-season after a contact extension?

Plus, who would you get to come in halfway through the year?

You bring this up EVERY TIME a what-if question is proposed. Jesus Christ. We know IB ain't getting canned because of $$$.

He sounded rather defeated in the postgame interview.

I have no ill-will towards IB personally. He just sucks as a basketball coach, is in over his head, and was basically thrown into the situation. I'm not sure he knew exactly what he was getting into but he couldn't say no either. Darron Boatright is guilty party 1A here. IB is 1B by way of 1A.

Boatright is the one that needed to be fired yesterday.

There is no option for 3 years which is when his buyout goes from full remaining value of the contract to half the remaining value of the contract.

My vote is 3 years (due to financial status of the program right now and the contractual financial implications of firing him before year 3) UNLESS two things are done
1. We have a home run candidate lined up and
2. We have the donor money ready to step up to make it happen.

Firing him early in the hopes of doing a search isnt going to net better results

In all honesty, first step is fire Boatright, then see what a new AD can do.

In all likelihood a coaching change most definitely needs to be made at the conclusion of this season IF Wichita St. wants to maintain its "status" in the college basketball world. A couple more seasons like this would seriously hurt if not deal a death-blow to the program moving forward in this new "arms race".

An established well respected coach needs to be put in place immediately lest we lose what we've built.
