WuHog isn't the only one that whiney. Get over it. The Redbirds played HARD and won by one. We had our chances regardless of the officiating and we could not get the job done. What was it one poster said -- 41 missed shots. That's a lot. And two in the last 6 seconds. It's old business. Put it to bed.

Is Higgins good because people keep saying it? Ed Hightower was always called a "good official" but in reality he was a showboat.

Higgins is honestly one of the best in the country. People who say otherwise don't know what the hell they're talking about.
Hightower may have been good before my time. The last 15 years or so he was living completely off of reputation and made the game all about him. So much so that he'd blow numerous calls.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

STL Officiating
Normally this is not a post I would make. However, Big Fan is correct that Higgins did not have his best game.
Upon retuning from STL and watching the DVR version of the game, it confirmed what I thought I saw live.
John should have stopped the nonsense occurring between Stutz & Wilkins long before the Double T's occurred.
On the prior possession, Wilkins fouled Stutz at least 3 times before the possession changed.
On the following possession, it started again.
John choose to try and talk to them and avoid blowing the whistle. At this point, it had gone too far and the whistle always has the last word.
After all of that, John is still one of the top 5 officials in the game. He didn't have his best game Saturday and even the best have an off night.
I will address Self and Daily's performance in another thread.
That is all.Above all, make the right call.

Everyone has a bad night. The shocks did and the refs can too. Higgins has done a good job most of the time I've seen him work. He does well whatever league he is in. I don't know who the other two were and so I don't know how well they normally do.

I would want Higgins on one of my games anytime. Everybody is allowed to have a bad day, we're all human. You can't blame him for the 25 foot 3 pointers that David Kyles was jacking up. You can't blame him for missing easy lay-ups, or turning the ball over, or allowing IlSt to make many unguarded three pointers in the second half. Fact is we lost this game because we didn't play like the same team that had won 27 games coming into Saturday. Can't blame the officials because we didn't take care of business. That's the easy way out.

Kelly Self
Kelly Self is the official that called most of the fouls on WSU. Don Dailey watched the game as an observer with a whistle. John Higgins was forced into a bad day due to how poorly the other officials did their jobs. KS has no business ever referering a Valley game. I wonder where Mark Whitehead was? He usually works several games in St. Louis. Can someone tell me if KS was one of the referees that did our game with Drake that we lost in 3 OT's???

John Higgins is a good official who missed some calls.
All three officials had opportunities to clean up the post.
Kelly Self called the same game he did in Des Moines. The dynamics between he and Gregg are not good.
Joe's charge in the first half was questionable and made him hesitant the rest of the half. The basket should have counted.
Our shooting in the second half was similar to December 31st.
0 points from DW and CH hurt.
27-5 and still ranked 16th with a chance for a 4 or 5 seed.Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

They are the best friends Shocker fans have in the Valley.
