Congratulations on the first game that Creighton has looked good in over the last two months.
The moderator of MVCfans is a Creighton fan. Nobody from WSU is given any rope while everyone else there can run amok. That board is a joke when it's so biased like that.

Actually the #3 team went 7 minutes without a bucket twice in the same game tonight at home. But they WERE playing the #6 team in the country.

I didn't even think that was a legitimate foul call at all, whether it happened 10 seconds into the game or 10 seconds remaining in the game. It was another tally on the list of BS foul calls.

        • Anybody else see College Basketball Live tonight on espn2? When they were giving the Shocker highlights the 3rd guy on the panel (not Gottlieb or Andy Katz but the other guy who I don't know) said he used to work at KAKE TV in Wichita. I didn't recognize him and I still don't know his name, but he sounded like he was very familar with the Shockers.

            • Couldn't watch a lot of the game. From the parts I saw:

1.) There was a clear-cut agenda in place from the beginning with the officiating crew and the league office. This is a FACT.
2.) The Redbirds were pissy and wanted to get revenge after getting swept in the regular season. They were dirty and gruesome at times. The officials decided to make it a one-sider. A WSU player breathed and there was a foul call. A WSU player gets manhandled in the lane and an eyelash isn't batted. This **** gets SO OLD.
3.) I can't believe we drew that last play up with Garrett taking a fade away 15-footer for the win. I would rather have seen Rags with the ball in those final 2 plays. We needed a layup, not a 19 foot jump shot. Although Murry got a clean look, he barely drew iron. I think Rags is the best pure shooter and the best player to create offense when we need it. He can penetrate or hit jump shots. I could not for the life of me believe he didn't get a touch down the stretch.
4.) This team needs to get PISSED. They need to go for blood from here on out, just like they did last year after getting upset in the semis. If that happens, good things will be forthcoming.
5.) Illinois State usually is my second favorite team in the Valley. Their players seemed to have it out for us today, and I'm not talking about in the basketball sense. They acted like we are a team full of cocky punks and a-holes and wanted to elbow us in the face. I was surprised. I was even more surprised that the refs let them get away with it and apparently went to bed with them last night.
              6.) I hate this conference.
7.) I REALLY hate this conference.

                • No need to respond to the trolls from Creighton. The 18-game regular conference season speaks for itself, and 16-2 vs. 14-4 is a loud statement, almost as loud as 89-68 on their "home" court was. They've been salivating, or whatever trolls do, ever since in anticipation of a chance to talk some smack. After all, with the way the pundits have been talking up the Shocks recently -- and with good reason -- the MattyP wannabes have been not so much Blue Jays fans as Green With Envy Jays fans. This was their year, and those impudent guys from Wichita snatched it away and got all the national attention? How dare they!

I don't even care whether Creighton wins or loses tomorrow, although I admit that for them to get dumped would be amusing; as KC rightly said, the conference tournament is a no more than a nice little weekend treat (and possibly a lifeline for Illinois State). Right now, I'm far more interested in how the Shocks respond to the bad taste of this game, and I expect it to be with steely determination. If anything, this loss will inspire them in the real tournament, and we saw last year how that could work out.

Besides, we have our idiots, too, like the clown we read about on here harassing the older couple from Indiana State at an impossibly thoughtless time. That buffoon was even worse than the moron from Omaha, which is not easy to do.

As someone said it was most likely Johnathan Coachman has done that show most of the season. It allways cracks men up to see him back on ESPN. He went to ESPN after KAKE then WWE.

Just watched it. I love how much Marshall HATES to lose. It looked like he had to throw up. That's the kind of coach I want. He may have come close to crossing the line, but let's face it, we were all pumping our fists and smiling when he said some of those things.

I'm an advocate of letting players play and even I thought this game got out of control early on. If you don't stop the dirty play, it will build up and players will retaliate. I like a good physical game, but this one was excessive.

Me too, and ive been told he had a long conversation with Elign, can anyone confirm this?
I will say this team will come out swinging in the NCAA tourney.

Illinois State hit shots they normally don't, outshot us from the foul line and got most of the calls and we played poorly and had two good looks to win it in regulation. Its basketball, we are dancing and there's no telling how far this team can go.
As a fan, it's simple to look at it that way. As a fan, I put more stock in a regular season championship. However, you can just tell from the reaction in Stutz's face when he missed the final shot, the faces made by GM and the players in the post game presser that they were frustrated, extremely pissed off and were doing their very best to internalize their feelings. I commend them on how they faced the post game camera. As I've said before, had they been blown out, or just got beat by the better team, I don't think we would have seen the reactions. This team was on a mission, to be the first team to win in St. Louis, to achieve a higher seed in the NCAA's and to maintain their momentum. However, the fashion in which they lost is the concern I have in terms of how the players will react from this.

Like a MLB pitcher who gives up a home run, a short memory is a must. I am hoping this team gets over this loss quickly and takes the negative energy they have right now and turn it around into becoming pissed off monsters who have a lot more to prove. I want this team to become that team in the NCAA's who won't take **** from anybody and comes out firing depleted uranium M1 Abrams rounds. That is what I hope, but as an outsider looking in, who knows how this team will react.

It was great. I loved the subtle jabs at the screwjob.

I love our coach. Every institution in this conference wishes they had one with that much competitiveness. Not only does he win, but he hates losing.

The other 9 Valley schools were happy today. But 8 of those other 9 will not be dancing in March. So suck a fat one. Make sure you drop on by again when the NCAA's start and your team is sitting at home watching paint dry.
