You folks are a lot more active than the fans at BDU (Bear Down University) I'll make a few observations and add a little insight about U of A's current team. The fan base in Tucson is guardedly optimistic. Truth be told, we don't know what we have, just that what we've seen is promising. Some of us get the sense that Coach Llyod is hard-nosed and exacting. It would seem his players are willing to follow his lead. Our starting five is long and athletic, but the real strength for this team may be it's depth. We did well in the transfer portal. We signed a starting shooting guard from Illinois, Justin Kier, a starting power forward from Washington State, Kim Aiken, and a starting guard/wing, Pelle Larson from Utah. These three weren't just starters, they were serious contributors. The backup center is a work in progress, but he's a mountain of a man 7' - 260 who's finally in shape and showing a little athleticism. All that said, Wichita is always gritty and may find a way to win, but they will be put to the test endurance wise. If Arizona is who the fans in Tucson think they are, they will prove it late in the fourth quarter and wear the shockers down. It's college hoops, anything can and will happen. My best guess is the game will be entertaining and decided late. Thank God college basketball is back!
One of the better takes as it turns out. Although I am still not quite sure how the Shocks got the game that close and into overtime. They did some godd things and got a nice assist from Arizona perhaps thinking they had the game in the bag.

I am not sure Shocker fans can claim to know exactly what we have at this point.

I'll check in periodically to see if this tight loss proved to be a confidence builder for the Shockers. On my end, I'm hoping that playing a quick team capable of causing a lifetime's worth of turnovers in a mere forty-minutes ends up benefiting the U of A against Michigan. I think that there's a chance we can beat the Wolverines if we limit the turnovers to 12 or less, and make no less than 70% at the charity line. Anyway, I wish your team great success and hope you guys get the chance to spank KU in the near future. Like you, I loathe Self and the Jayhawks.

For better or worse I don’t think the Shockers lack confidence.

What they lack is the discipline and consistency to box out every possession, not bite on every pump fake, not get out of position and lose track of their man or the ball on defense, to run the offense and not just jack up a contested jumper after one or no passes, etc, etc.

They’re like the ultimate NO, NO, YES! team.

I love their effort, confidence, talent and never quit spirit. Would like to see better focus, execution and consistency. Will they ever combine the two? It should be an interesting season finding out.

I think that pretty much mirrors my thinking. Whether or not the intelligence, instinct and desire are there to make that happen remains to be seen. And that is not limited to the players.

                        • As it turned out, the Shockers were the perfect challenge for Arizona leading up to the Michigan game. I'm still thanking God we got that far. Our dismantling of the Maize and Blue bodes well for WSU. I'm convinced we're legit, which can make your OT loss worth something come selection Sunday. But it's way to early to don anyone tourney ready. We still have away games against Illinois and Tennessee which will be big-time challenges. Here's hoping we both have solid seasons and avoid each other in March/April . . . until it can't be avoided.
