Some real demented thinking in this thread. For a team like us that has been working for this run for a few years has no business executing this DA plan. It is stupid to not prepare for the games in STL just like you prepare for UNLV, Chicago State, Creighton, or Bradley. You prepare to exploit the other teams weaknesses and WIN THE GAME. Why? Because what message would you be sending the team, fans, institution and the world if you didn't? Please...get a grip people.

Yes, we want to win every game possible. No doubt about it and winning the LEW is long past do. We are the best team in the Valley and now is the time to again prove it. Winning the Lew would be an exclamation that we really dominated the Valley this Season and cast out any doubts as to why that happened. In 2006, we did not win the Lew but made it to the Sweet 16. Two Seasons ago, N. Iowa won the Lew and got the big win versus KU. Thus, let's just win the Lew, take every game very seriously, and make this a Season to always remember, even beyond 2006. We won the NIT last Season and now is a great chance to do something even more special than that.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

Let us also put to rest about any team "getting hot" like Indiana State last year. Indiana State benefited from the Shocks playing like total ****, and frankly MSU gave everything they had to beat WSU on senior night. They were done.

We lost the tourney, nobody won it. It will take a B- performance or worse for this team to lose a game in St. Louis....and that's not arrogance, these guys are just that good.

You have to go for the win in St. Louis...nothing less......! Remember, Mike McCarthy (GBP) rested some of his best players for 3 weeks thinking they would be fresh for the conference playoffs, and "boom"..., what happened!......it looked like the most unjointed team in the NFL. Let the boys play to be champions!

Agree, WSU has that intimidation factor. As Sullentrop wrote the other day, he believes that outside of Creighton no other team thinks they can defeat WSU.

We have 11 days between the end of Arch Madness and the start of the NCAA tournament to rest up and get healthy.

                This thread is dumb.

'Cold' posts another one of his classics. He's always had a hard-on for Memphis... How many league titles and tournament titles did they win in CUSA? Caliper sure didn't check it in during the conference tournaments. Memphis simply beat the he'll out of everyone that was standing in their path. Take no prisoners and win the damn MVC tournament. The fans that have traveled to St. Louis for 17 years deserve to finally celebrate a Valley tournament championship and we sure could use the exposure on CBS. What the heck, let's win 3 championships while we're at it.

He wanted his teams fresh for the real tournament and liked the idea that another Big 12 school would get the auto-bid. Basically, his team didn't need it. We don't either. I don't agree that it will push us from a 5 to a 4 or a 4 to a 3 seed. Theoretically it is possible, but I just don't think we are going to get that much of a boost beating two lower level Valley teams and then possibly an upper-middle team or in a worst-case scenario, another lower-level team again. The best case scenario for seed-bumping would be to meet Creighton in the final and demolish them again, but we have just as good of a chance of meeting Evansville or Drake in the Final. In that scenario you would have your "precious" tourney trophy and we would have endured a huge battle and possibly risked a big injury or two.

All B.S. aside, I think we should win one game and then adios. Most on here have no idea how many injuries or illnesses our players are nursing. We need to be fresh and healed to make the run we all want to make.

We have a lot of scrub teams in this league that would salivate at the opportunity to take Stutz or Ragland out. Not to mention, we have a lot of scrub fans that would relish - and possibly offer free beer - in celebration of any misfortune we would encounter up in St. Louis.

The only big disadvantage I see of us bowing out of the tournament is that all of our travelling fans will be disappointed. Most don't see the big picture and are intensely focused on tiny, tiny victories like an MVC tournament trophy (gag). I'm looking for Final Four banners (or more); you can take your MVC tourney trophy and stick it where the sun doesn't shine.

Give me the MVC tourney championship on a year when we really need it, not when we are a high-seed lock. If we go balls out in St. Louis and somebody gets hurt, my words will haunt those that disagre

Not sure about you guys, but I'd be pretty pissed if I show up to STL only to see our team not trying at all.

Tshox - +1000. And...rjl...please clean it up so I don't have to keep explaining to my 12-year old (who reads Shockernet) how people - who aren't educated enough to present an opinion and/or argument based on their own knowledge and experience - have to revert to using profanity to try to create the impression that they have some knowledge. Moderators - please help clean this up. Two threads with the "f" word is not the way we Shocker Fans want to be represented.

You don't have to worry too much about that. Arch Madness is a whole week earlier than most other Conferences when playing their Conference Tournament. The MVC actually gets an extra week of rest compared to other conferences.

We need to bust our Arch Madness championship winless streak. What is it up to now, a quarter of a century? I trust GM to sit our key players when the game is no longer in doubt. The team also needs to catch fire again. The last two games, our shooting has tapered off to normal season averages, lets see if they can get hot again heading into the NCAA's. Shoot like we did against, UNI, CU and Davidson this team has a shot to go beyond the sweet 16.

Again. For the Sake of Seeding. The Shox need to get to the Championship Game in Arch Madness if we want a possible 3 or 4 seed.

Not only that. Arch Madness is finished and done with before other Conferences have even started playing their Conference Tournmaent. The Shox will get at least a good week and a half of rest before they have to play their first game in the NCAA Tournament.
