  • Why is the National Anthem an afterthought 15 minutes before tipoff now instead of part of the main opening and lead-up to intros? That used to be something unique to us, with the sing-along and whatnot.

Why is game production (not action on the court) still so hilariously poor? Why do we struggle with this so much? How many of you were allowed to do your job in an incompetent and unprofessional manner just because you're new? That don't fly in the real world employment market.

Everything about the WSU game experience is amateur hour, outside of the play on the court.

I was at the game dipsh!t, along with the other apparently 2,100 or so folks who cared enough to go.

Go take a nap in your recliner or hand out butterscotch candy to your great-grandchildren or something.

I gotta imagine the budget for help in production and other "non-essential" areas is absolutely wrecked. Many former Shocker advertisers are likely absent as well due to the pandemic. This may be one time they actually deserve a pass. They need a ton of volunteers I bet.

I'm wondering if they are purposely playing the anthem without the players on the court to avoid that whole minefield from our players or opposing players.

But that cluster started in what... 2016? It was in full bloom long before the 2021-2022 MBB season.

Very possible. I prefer it with the players on the floor, but I could understand that point of view.

I like the call out around allowing offensive rebounds. 11 offensive rebounds is a lot but 78% of available defensive rebounds sounds much better. Also from being at the game .. many of the offensive rebounds came off some really really bad misses. Like off the side of the back board. Off the side of the rim from 3 that kicked out to the 3 point line. Those types of misses. When the other team was missing 3s they often weren't close and had some crazy bounces off the rim.

So still work to do but just looking at 11 offensive rebounds in a vacuum might be a bit misleading.

Did you miss the preface before the bullet points?

Would like to be able to rewatch to confirm but I recall a decent amount of those 11 boards came on two or three possessions.

By and large I thought we were better on the boards but I’m by no means closing the case of the missing Wichita state rebounding.

I didn't see the game so I can't really comment on the play. But Taylor Eldridge seems to have written a good and fair perspective. Go Shocks.
