Probably correct but I'll throw out a name I ran across a few times last summer from Wichita. Roman Young. He's probably in middle school and from what I could tell might be one of the best young ballers in Wichita.

He definitely needs to gain weight. He also needs to work on his attitude a bit. I know the game I worked, he constantly complained to all three of us that he should be getting calls. Actually told one of my partners that since he's Connor, he should be getting calls. But he and his coaches whine a lot. I get the feeling that some officials baby Connor in the city. I don't know that for a fact, but based on how they acted, that's my guess. He's going to have to get physically and mentally tougher if he's going to compete at the next level.

Sounds like he'll fit right in at KU

Not doubting that,Sub, but the three times I've met him, I've never seen anything in him that would suggest that a 'I'm Connor' attitude...BUT competition sometimes causes us to do untoward things...

I don't know who the next local star is, but losing the most recent two is a direct slap in the face to Wichita State. I yearn for a time when once again, Wichita stars go to Wichita State.

Nothing would be sweeter than to smack down KU in the tourney while Conner and Perry sit at home in front of their televisions with all their KU garb on and a box of tissues in their laps. Traitors.

He isnt rising or from Wichita but not many people know of him. Zach Bush from Goddard Eisenhower. He is a senior and about 6'6-6'7. He is averaging like 20 and 10 a game. If he was in the city league he would probably be getting more coverage. From what i hear wsu has shown interest in him. I work with his uncle and he said the doctor thinks he could grow a few more inches. He can handle the ball and shoot the three as he plays point guard for the team. He probably needs to red shirt and put some weight on.

Young is a player. There are a couple of others that I won't mention that will be household names in a couple of years amongst the area basketball junkies. No predictions on what level of stardom they will achieve.

Bush is a sleeper. Would love to see him walk on here.

Frankamp was KU-bound from birth, and that's fine if that's your thing, but it sure would have been nice if we could have been a top 20 team LAST YEAR while competing for Perry's services. No matter. I'm quite happy with our current crop of players!

I know of a pretty good looking 4-year old who has a very nice looking shot when left alone outside the arc (the no-charge arc that is). Only problem is he hasn't decided whether he wants to focus on basketball or being a Samurai Power Ranger. I will keep an eye on him as he develops.
