Memphis is too good not to get in and could secure a spot by beating
Houston in the AAC tournament final. Too much talent there for Penny
to screw up. Both Houston and Memphis dance. SMU will finish 3rd
and go to the NIT. NIT is our ceiling but at this moment seems far fetched
without considerable improvement. Looking way out to next year my most
wanted list of returnees would be KP, MU, CP, RC and DD. Would need to
get three quality transfers. A decent big man who can defend and rebound,
a solid PG and a very solid catch and shoot wing who can shoot 40% or
    better from deep.

A decent performance against Prairie View A&M saw a slight improvement in our ranking position. If "Selection Sunday" occurred today (12/27/21), I would predict Wichita State would be in the NIT at the 3-seed to 4-seed range. A decent performance against East Carolina (a win) and a well-played game against Memphis (another win), and the shockers will likely be back “on-the-bubble” for consideration to the NCAA Tournament in my next update.

A disastrous week for the Shockers with the ECU game called off due to ECU Covid issues and the poor performance against Memphis at the Roundhouse tanked our previous ranking position. If "Selection Sunday" occurred today (01/03/22), I would predict Wichita State would be in the NIT at the 6-seed to 7-seed range. The upcoming weekend game against Houston is going to be close to a “must-win” if WSU is going to stay in consideration for any post-season tournament.

              Week 10 Thoughts
Slight improvement in WSU’s NET this week, but primarily based on the strength of Houston’s NET and other NCAA/NIT teams losing over the weekend as well. WSU will continue to get some help as the season progresses, because other teams will have to go on the road. If "Selection Sunday" occurred today (01/10/22), I would predict Wichita State would be in the NIT at the 5-seed to 6-seed range. The upcoming games against Tulane/Cincinnati are going to be close to “must-win” if WSU is going to stay in consideration for any post-season tournament.

Don't look now, WSU #92 in KenPom and UNI #102... WSU is not much different than UNI, except UNI might have a chance of getting to the NCAA tournament in the MVC.

Neither of us are making the tourney unless we win our respective tourneys

The point still stands. You thought it was an exaggeration, when in fact, it sadly isn't.

UNI will have a decent chance of doing that (maybe 30-40% if they can continue to finish 2nd in the MVC). Where WSU will be seeded with present winning trends of the program will be substantially less than UNI.

                                Week 11 Thoughts
And the body blows just continue. A disastrous week with two home losses sees our NET Ranking plummet to #93. If "Selection Sunday" occurred today (01/17/22), I would predict Wichita State would be in the 8-field CBI (if they even accepted) as the last team-in. The Shockers will have an opportunity to get back in the room for consideration to the NIT, but who would want to bet-the-farm on that happening this week?
