Liked the mock results; especially the part about not being in Kentucky's region....

Per the NCAA, the top 5 seeds in each region are protected.

"To recognize the demonstrated quality of such
teams, the committee shall not place teams
seeded on the first five lines at a potential
      “home-crowd disadvantage” in the second
      round."

I actually tweeted this question to one of the media members on the mock committee. This was the conversation:

ME: Shouldn't WSU be protected from playing Gonzaga in Portland in the second round?
@rushthecourt: Brought that up and was told that it wasn't a consideration b/c it's not a "home" venue for Gonzaga.
ME: That seems odd because a team can't play at a site if it's the host anyway. Doesn't seem like that standard does too much.
@rushthecourt: Well geography counts more than I imagine, but they didn't seem to think Portland was too "home" for Gonzaga. I disagree.

Missouri St. as a 13? The mock committee sees them winning in St. Louis?

I know when this was done a few years ago (I think with the mid-majority guy, I can't remember, I know someone wrote a really good article on it), they threw in a few "curveballs" just to more accurately simulate what the real committee goes through. So basically, they probably don't think SWOMO will win in St. Louis, but it's possible and they wanted to see how it would affect their thinking.

Why? Portland is 300+ miles from Spokane. That's like calling Oklahoma City a home venue for the Chickenhawks.

                They are a good team.

I don't know about that 13 seed thing/winning St Louis though.
