Matthew Vassar started the Vassar Womens College in 1861. Years later, in 1886, Reverend Joseph Parker had a vision to start a ladies college in the midwest, wanting it to become the "Vassar of the Midwest". In 1887 a local neighborhood neighborhood, Fairmount Neighborhood, gave the project a parcel of land and the project was dubbed Fairmount College. The surrounding streets are named after the prominent womens colleges of the time- Vassar, Wellesly, Holyoke, Belmont, etc. Now 125 years later, the post-secondary institution has a wildly successful softball program and Shockerman wants to throw the ladies a bone.

Do you skip to the last page of a book, too?

This had the potential to be a real page turner!
