Palm's bracket out. WSU a 5 seed playing Northwestern and Creighon a 6 seed playing Cal. Both teams could make a nice run with brackets like these.

Louisville, Northwestern, Nevada in Albuquerque.. Love that draw.... !!!!! Potential matchup with Duke??? Love it even more... in fact, licking my chops right now....:poster_wu:

although.... I think Southern Miss might take Duke out first.... Southern Miss vs. WSU would be a barn burner...

        Re:

As it stands today with the top 8 seeds, I don't think there's any way we go to Columbus, OH, Omaha, or Greensboro.

Columbus - Ohio St & Mich St
        Omaha - Kansas & Mizzou
        Greensboro - Duke & UNC

This leaves Albuquerque, Portland, Louisville, Pittsburgh, and Nashville as possible first round sites for us.

I would rather be in Nashville or Louisville myself.

OMAHA, GREENSBORO, NASHVILLE, COLUMBUS - are all friday/sunday games..
I would think these would be more preferable to most shocker fans because it is one less day they have to take off from school/work...

LOUISVILLE, PITTSPURGH, ALBUQUERQUE, PORTLAND - are thursday/ saturday games..
Louisville and Albuquerque are both possibilities .... portland and pittsburgh would suck.

I'm pretty sure Ohio St can't play in Columbus, they'll most likely be in Pittsburgh or Louisville.

Doesn't really matter because you need a travel day(s) before and after.

Thurs-Sat you travel on Wed. & Sun., taking Wed., Thurs. and Fri. off.
Fri.-Sun. you travel on Thurs. & Mon., taking Thurs., Fri. and Mon. off.

I agree Portland or Pittsburgh would be least desireable for those planning on driving, especially Portland, due to driving distance. Airfares there are brutal as well. Greensboro is far, but we made it in '06 in about 22 hours.

Palm's new bracket out and we have moved up to a 4 seed. This is a bracket we could do some damage in.

I don't know that WSU would want new Mexico anywhere around. They will be tough in the tourney as well.

Palm's bracket, as well as the bracket matrix has 14 teams not from the power-6 conferences with seeds of 11 or better.

Nine of those 14 in the bracket matrix are seeded above 8. Which means a lot of those slots we used to complain always went to the better "mids", like the 8/9 and 12s, are going to the BCS teams. I hope the actual bracket follows suit.

I wonder how this compares with past seasons?

Well no other local teams, correct? Our fans travel well.

No, shock4, we don't. Jerry Palm is no more a member of the selection committee than Joe Lunardi is. Calm down.

We're getting up to a point where a lot of the brackets have us playing non-BCS teams in the first round... ultimately we get who we get, and that's all there is to it, but does anyone else kind of wish we'd pull a middling BCS team in the first round instead of a team like Long Beach who is probably better than its seed and will play with a chip on its shoulder?

Like I said, we get who we get, we have to win either way, but a team like Iona or Long Beach might really feel like they have something to prove.
There are nights when I think that Sal Paradise was right.

I'd rather see an overrated BCS school in the first 6 games we play of the tourney. But that might be asking too much. So I guess I'd settle for 5 out of 6.
