I guess I might disagree with the 7th and 8th comments in the thread titled "Wichita St. vs. Creighton" on that board but I understand their reasoning (e.g. " St. Mary's was ranked too high at the time." etc.) A loss to Davidson would do far more harm than a win would prove helpful; as with George Mason and VCU, it might punch their ticket to the NCAA tourney.

Understand their reasoning? Really? St Mary's too high? Then why didn't "too high" St Mary's play Creighton that had an RPI 5 places higher than they had at the time. Both #1s of the home/road teams. It may be very "fair" to Davidson that #2 WSU (RPI rank #31 at the time) play the 7th best home team with an RPI rank of #68. They have everything to gain, nothing to lose. George Mason or VCU would not have punched their ticket had Davidson won, but certainly ended any at large hopes if they had lost to either GM and VCU which had RPI ranks less than Davidson (#84 and #102). Playing WSU, they're in a win/win situation. As for the teams those posters put down as lesser options, well 3 of 4 still have better RPIs than Davidson, Oral Roberts safely in the top 50 and Iona barely hanging on to top 50 status. Davidson.....50-100 group and no better. You don't have to buy into "spin".

I was trying to be nice. I think their argument is full of holes but, if I was a Davidson fan, I would try to think of some (any) justification for the horrible decision by ESPN. I was trying to see it from their point of view; they didn't make the decision. They might benefit from it if they win; let's make sure they don't.

As HCGM says, "you've got to blossom where they put you". Can't control what transpired, let's just hope they can go into their place and get the W. Regardless what their RPI is, it will still be a nice win and confidence booster.

He is asking to change what you do outside the board, without attacking you personally.

Then I will ask you to do the same thing you are asking him. Have respect for those who may not support the same team, idea, or belief that you have, approach them accordingly, and be willing to listen to what team, idea, or belief they have. If you do not, then you are just as bad a representative as they are.
