I don't beg other fanbases to bow down to WSU. That is their prerogative to issue praise or slam on another team on THEIR board. I peruse other Valley boards just to observe, occasionally throwing in a friendly comment if I feel like it. But WSU all of a sudden gets big wins, gets a gaudy record, and is destined for something, and you have this guy magically showing up and making WSU fans look like morons. Opponent message boards like the occasional passing comment of substance from an opposing fan. They don't like the constant taking over of a message board and begging teams to recognize Wichita State. They already know who we are. They don't need any help.

I just happened to look at an SIU site and an MSU site just a few hours ago and the same fan is pissing off other fans for his constant need for attention to WSU and his moaning about every perceived slight of WSU. If an Indiana State fan came here (when they were actually good) and started begging for Sycamore praise left and right, I would be pissed. I don't care about Indiana State. We'll talk about them on our own accord. I wouldn't want a Suckamore fan coming here telling me how great they are.

Sorry to drag this off topic.

    Moving on..
    Deuces Valley.
    ... No really, deuces.

I hope we have a chip on our shoulder as unlike Cleveland State who drew us with nothing to gain, we have something to gain.

Momentum, and a convincing win in an area our coaching staff likes to recruit against a quality program that has been to the Elite 8 in recent memory.

They also should have a chip on their shoulder as many, myself and this board included, feel like we deserve better.

I hope for a great game that we win that no one gets hurt.

Another win against a top-100 on the road isn't "nothing to gain". Yes we should have drawn better, but this will be a good quality tune-up for the MVC tourney..

I guess it felt like the VCU victory gave them "our" spot last year. Of course this is wrong; the loss at home to SIU cost us much more than the loss to VCU. The loss to the Trees didn't help.

Since we are "safely in" this year (if you believe the various reports), there is no chance of a Davidson win derailing our "at large" (which we, hopefully, don't need.)

Good gawd, I hope what I added to South Carolina's board was appropriate. Some of them are like'n themselves some Gregg Marshall.

Just remember a few things. Davidson has been to the tournament and had more success than us more recently than we have. Davidson has a player in the NBA and we don't. Also, we are 1-6 in Bracket buster games.

                That is all.

You made a nice post. Some earlier posts in that thread had incomplete information but it isn't your job to correct this. Props to you.

I just checked the Nolan site (http://warrennolan.com/basketball/20.../Wichita-State) and it still says:
                      Record vs. RPI teams
                      1-50: 2-3
Looks the same as yesterday. This game may "wake up" some voters in the polls but may not help our seeding that much. If we had lost, our seeding would have dropped. This was "a little to gain but a lot to (potentially) lose" situation and we made the best of it.

                      GO SHOCKS!!

What happened in the 51-100 column though? :)

I agree we could have drawn better which would have put less at risk and paid a bigger reward. That said though, this wasn't a "nothing to gain" situation. We just got a decent test on the road with a raucous crowd and persevered through a concerning first half where the other team was hot. EXCELLENT game to have right before the MVC and NCAA tournaments.

I'm just saying, there is more to playing a good opponent than RPI.

I diametrically disagree with your "little to gain" conclusion.

First, your argument presupposes that RPI has anything to do with seeding, much less selection to the tournament. As history has shown, it can be used as a guide but more often gut-feeling is what guides the committee.

Second, having a nationally televised game on the East Coast at a team with name cache on the Saturday after a bunch of pollsters, both AP and Coaches' Poll, were told they were ignorant for not including the Shockers is HUGE.

My guess is that WSU moves up further in the polls this week than the plain numbers of this matchup should indicate they would. Perhaps a little "jet-lag" hungover from last week.

This game was big for us. We delivered.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

I agree that we will move up (in the polls) but I had already pointed that out when I said " This game may "wake up" some voters in the polls."

I think the selection committee looks for excuses to lower the seeds of "mid-majors" and to keep them out of the tourney. Having a losing record against the "1-50 RPI teams" offers such an excuse. I wanted BB to help remove that excuse.

PS KU fans complain about "mid-majors" being under-seeded. It is clear that this happens.

It appears as if we are probably in about 80% agreement.
