People are so starved for civility in Nebraska they actually maintain a fairly active forum dedicated to urbanization progress in Omaha (Example: "Hey, we got a Pottery Barn, Wichita doesn't have a Pottery Barn!!!!!!!!) After getting trolled on Valleytalk by several maladjusted men whose self-esteem seems directly related to the number of coffee houses and home furnishing stores located in their city, I ambled over to their strange forum and inspected a few threads. In one thread, Eomaha posted a picture of himself and a woman (later found to be his wife) in a hot tub on a wintery eve with nipples all afloat. Since he was being a menace on VT and basically a tool at life, I decided to direct the attention of the audience to Mr. Omaha's public "party pic". He lost interest in posting very often on VT after that night. It was a low blow but good times.

Ask anyone from either the left or right coast if there is any difference to them between Wichita and Omaha and the likely answer is no. We're both flyover country, still pee in outhouses, and fight indians in many of their minds. About the only thing Omaha has on Wichita is it has a bigger population and a few more of the things that go along with it.
Back in the mid 1980s when I was on a summer high school honor band trip with kids from around the country, I was asked what we did in Wichita and south central Kansas (I'm originally from Mayfield in Sumner County). I first asked if he liked to eat bread. "Yeah." Well, we grow LOTS of wheat. We were sitting on the tarmac at JFK in NYC getting ready for our flight over the pond. I pointed out the window and told him we build big chunks of most of these planes. "Oh." I honestly believe he thought we still had no electricity or running water here.Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind. ~Dr. Seuss

Proof that lots of beer is sold at CLink
1) Fans waving signs taunting the residents of their opponent's city, when the opponent is blowing YOUR team out in YOUR city. Have another beer.
2) Fans all around the sign-waving guy laughing and smiling when their team is getting blown out on their home court. You've probably already had another beer. Either that, or there was some good news about Nebraska football on Twitter.Last edited by Aargh; February 12, 2012, 11:29 AM.The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

Does this mean we don't have to read the Wichita-NIT signs anymore? Here is what our beloved Shockers did for them yesterday. Today's paper listed their attendance at 18,735. Among that number were some zealot Shocker fans. Thus, we draw big crowds but we send them home so very sad, because this is our time, not theirs. Their fans came for the spoils but the bright lights shined on the black and gold as the masses witnessed our great show. Not that many years ago, we did the same to the Cuse at the Dome on the tube with the same awesome results. Our road warriors are among the very best in the Country lately at winning games on the road.Last edited by forevershockerfan; February 12, 2012, 10:40 AM.Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

I love how he turns the poster as to face the WSU fans in attendance. As if this ***** would do anything to back up his bravado. The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

Congrats on putting the wood to us in our own building. You were the better team, in all facets. This sign is stupid and I'm embarrassed that someone would hold that up. That being said we all have those fans that don't represent themselves or their schools with much class. I ran into a few WSU (most just happy and excited about the W and the way it went) fans who were pretty classless, I'm sure you all know them. I'll point out one. Some guy who felt the need to wear sunglasses and a stocking cap during the game, he usually sits behind the bench when WSU comes to town but my guess is they either didn't want him there or enough boosters of means came up and he got booted to the balcony. He was also making sure everyone knew how "cool" his t-shirt that said "creighton girls love the shocker" was. Hilarious. Any of these things - sunglasses, stocking cap, stupid shirt, I would get if it was a student, that's what students do. This was a grown man, in age only. Buddy, no one thinks you are funny, except maybe a few of your friends who also act like you. Most people see you and think one word - loser. Someone actually told me he was a teacher, if so God help the youth of america that has to be taught by him. Just the point that we all got these types of fans - hope to see you Sunday in St. Louis.
