On the CU post-season show, they are saying Saturday is THE SEASON. Saturday is a MUST WIN. If they lose to us they will be 2 down to us.

Yes Co-Champions. The tie breaker is only for the Arch Madness.

Talk about broadside. When did the MVC start playing Tuesdays as of recently? I didn't even know that CU-UE was going on tonight!

Shox better knuckle up now. Bullseye.

I also want us ranked in the top 25 and I want us to get into the dance with the best possible seed. I just think all of that took a little hit tonight.

I also would like our league to have at least 2 strong teams in the dance (being in a one bid league is pretty much worthless). It helps our program in the long run (it is hard to recruit kids to play in a one-bid league) and it helps us financially. The only money that the MVC creates is from the ncaa tournament appearances by its teams.

Also losing 2 in a row, just before they play us also makes CU play that much harder against us and will make it harder for us to beat them. A win that I really want.

It is kind of like when we played CU the first time. It was right after CU lost to MoST. They came in and beat us in Wichita. They had their backs against the wall and they will again.

Cu losing to UNI was okay. It helped us. I was happy. Cu losing two in a row just before they play us and it being against a team that will give them a bad loss that is not good in my book.

I just hope we are ready to win tomorrow and extra ready to play so that we can win on Saturday.
I disagree with most of this. I want a Valley Championship, especially over a heavily-favored team like the BJ's are. An outright Valley title would punch our ticket and would probably mean Top 25 regardless.

Sure it hurts the Valley exposure a bit, but I'm more worried about Wichita State at this point. At the moment, this loss has given us sole possession of first place.
            Deuces Valley.
            ... No really, deuces.

We don't need to worry about being "Co-Champions". We're going to roll into Omaha and beat CU so badly that their entire fan-base will reconsider why they root for them over us.

Three interesting items from the box score:

                  1) Colt Ryan had a bad game by his standards. 14 points on 3-12 (0-2 from 3) with frontliners Harris and Sawvell scoring 15 and 12.

                  2) The Aces average over 14 3 pointers per game....they shot 8 making 3 tonight. Note: CU was 4-22 from 3.

                  3) CU tired? Maybe so. McD played 10 tonight with 8 over 11 minutes and #9 playing 7 minutes.

Coach McD said in his post game show that CU is tired and that he is giving them tomorrow off so that they can rest up for Wichita.

I posted this in another thread where some thought CU was fresh and had more depth, I think the stats paint a different picture.

                      CU
                      31.2 - McDermott
                      29.8 - Young
                      29.5 - Gibbs
                      23.1 - Manigat

                      16.4 - Jones
                      11.5 - Chatman

                      WSU
                      28.4 - Murry
                      26.3 - Ragland
                      25.1 - Stutz
                      24.3 - Kyles
                      23.7 - Hall
                      23.7 - Smith
                      23.3 - Williams
                      10.6 - Cotton
                      9.4 - Orpuke

CU numbers didn't get any better tonight either with their starters playing the following.

                      Dougie - 33 minutes
                      Echenique - 28 minutes
                      Young - 35 minutes
                      Gibbs - 36 minutes

If that happened, the teams would be co-champs with Creighton the #1 seed in the tourney.

Think 3 of KUs big 12 7 in a row were shared championships! even though beakers wont mention this...

We now control our own destiny. Keep winning and everything will line up perfectly. It's a tough road though, and as much as I think we have a good shot at winning on Saturday, I also think it's going to be very very difficult. The Jays don't lose 2 in a row often, let alone 3 in a row.

These next few weeks will be interesting... it'll probably come down to who wants it more. I'm hoping our seniors will show it's them. It's their last chance at greatness!

First things first--take care of business tonight. Jacobsen has had way too much success in our house. It's time to start a new streak--of us handling them and protecting our home floor.

It was suggested that this was probably due to scheduling conflicts at the Ford Center in Evansville. This may have worked against Creighton last night against Evansville, but it may give Creighton a slight advantage over the Shocks as they return home and get one additional days rest before facing the Shocks on Saturday.
