UE and CU In A War

Yes! I really didn't want the help tonight. Let's hope we don't take tomorrow for granted.

UE beating CU just makes CU look weak and our league look weak. It also hurts CU's seeding (hopefully in the end it doesn't keep them out of the dance, I am not worried about that yet). and our chances of getting into the top 25.

Yes I did. I want to beat the best. It really takes some luster off the game, now that they have lost to UE.

I also want us ranked in the top 25 and I want us to get into the dance with the best possible seed. I just think all of that took a little hit tonight.

I also would like our league to have at least 2 strong teams in the dance (being in a one bid league is pretty much worthless). It helps our program in the long run (it is hard to recruit kids to play in a one-bid league) and it helps us financially. The only money that the MVC creates is from the ncaa tournament appearances by its teams.

Also losing 2 in a row, just before they play us also makes CU play that much harder against us and will make it harder for us to beat them. A win that I really want.

It is kind of like when we played CU the first time. It was right after CU lost to MoST. They came in and beat us in Wichita. They had their backs against the wall and they will again.

Cu losing to UNI was okay. It helped us. I was happy. Cu losing two in a row just before they play us and it being against a team that will give them a bad loss that is not good in my book.

I just hope we are ready to win tomorrow and extra ready to play so that we can win on Saturday.

Correct on all counts. Cretin falls out of the top 25. That hurts the MVC, and it hurts us. No matter what we do the rest of the way, our loss to DU and Cretins losses will result in us receiving a lower seed in the NCAA Tournament than had both of us won those games. WSU and CU are not Iowa State. When we lose to UNI and DU, it actually hurts us.

With a win tonight, as bad as it sounds, Creighton losing two in a row coupled with our loss to Drake, has killed the Valley in regards to perception.

Even with a win tonight, Saturday becomes lose/lose for both teams. We win, Creighton has lost 3 in a row and percieved to be not as good as they thought, making our win less prominent. We lose, then we are perceived to not be as good, as they have lost 2 in a row, but still beat us. Both drop our percieved strength.

On Creighton's side, they win, it just shows how weak the Valley is that they can lose 2 in a row and still beat us. If they lose to us, then they are percieved to have been very overrated against a softer Valley schedule.

The bottom line is WSU needs to win their games and not worry about Creighton.

Let Creighton take care of themselves. They'll get their share of wins the rest of the year without
us having to feel sorry for them!

It is entirely possible that the Shox lose 4 out of their next 6. UNI has won at our place 5 out of the last 7 times, winning at Creighton is always tough, then we have two long road trips in 4 days with Davidson and at ISU red. It's pucker time and if we can secure at least a 4 - 2, (with one of those wins at Creighton), record from here on out, we should be in really good shape for at-large and conference title hopes.

A 4-0 record over that stretch will place us into the top 16 in RPI as it stands today. We would also certainly be ranked in the top 20.

Have you looked at any of the "bracket experts" brackets the last couple of weeks? We are in everyones bracket right around a 7-10 seed. We could still lose two regular season games and still be in the tournament. Jerry Palm has UNI as one of the first four out. We take care of business tonight and we are starting to cement ourselves into a "lock" for the tournament.

We have apparently learned to "crack the RPI code" again. Going off of RPIForecast, and factoring in the conference tournament, we can still lose 2 more games and finish with an RPI of 11...or we can win out until the conference tournament, lose in the first round and have an RPI of 20. We just have to win the right games.
