It would be good motivation for the WSU players. No way Marshall doesn't remind them of it before playing them in the tournament again.

      "hypothetical matchup"

      Stutz v. Withey - Stutz
      Hall v. Robinson - Robinson
      Smith v. Releford - even
      Murry v. Johnson - Murry
      Ragland v. Taylor - Taylor

So the intangibles and bench come into play. Would make for an interesting matchup, and really would depend on who was on and who was off that night.

Seriously, none of the players on this years team were even BORN the last time WSU beat KU. Heck, most of their parents were probably still in high school when it happened.

I don't care if we ever play them. No one in the Valley matches up with T-Rob, maybe no one in the NCAA. Don't ever think that they would not be hyped up for us.

And this should sufficiently end this useless thread.

Most of the older WSU fans I know still talk about that game.. Had it not been for that game, we would probably be sitting here in 2012 having not played KU since 1955.

And how does that help us? Yeah it's a great memory and all, but what good does it do for us today?

A universities two main goals are preservation and research.. Reminding this year's team of what happened in 1981 would serve as good motivational tool. After all, it's not like beating KU in the 1981 Sweet 16 never happened. Some of you make it sound like WSU should take down every single banner that hangs in Koch Arena... And I do believe that 1981 Sweet 16 has a banner up there too. Heck, while we're at it, let's just remove the banners for Carr and Xman too.. Being as how those guys help none right now either. :disturbed:

Didn't you guys watch Winthrop at North Carolina the year before Marshall came to WSU?

F*#! yeah WSU could beat KU. That's even up odds. Who from KU would stop Ragland? Answer: nobody.

                          Who is this KU?
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kickass ... and I'm all out of bubblegum.

Well not to nitpick, but they've played more than 2 handfuls during that time. Outcome was 2 out of 11.

Yeah but many of those games were during the Cohen years when WSU was just plain terrible. But I do love the Dec. 1987 game when we beat Danny Manning and the eventual national champs 57-49 in Henry Levitt Arena.

When we get to the dance I don't give a darn who we play. Just win.
