  • Matt B suffers another concussion

Channel 12 reporting that Matt B was taken to the emergency room after the game for concussion. Is reported day to day. Not good, not good at all.

I hope he is alright, not for basketball sake, but for the sake of his health.

Please Matt, if you are reading this, DO NOT RUSH BACK. Take your time and come back when the doctors say you are good to go.

I hope he is okay. He's had too many concussions already. You have too many concussions and you'll turn into a vegetable. At this point you have to start thinking about his long-term future and what he will do after college basketball. Seriously this guy is on the one concussion per year plan.

What will we do for a point guard if he's out?

          Start Wendell?
Will Hatch or Michael see court time from this?

Gal is currently averaging the second most minutes per game (after Matt) and plays as point guard when Matt is out of the game. Therefore the answer to your question is easy; Gal is pg, PJ or Ellis plays the shooting guard, etc.

I hope Matt is OK. A google search did not reveal anything about this topic (of a new concussion).
Some posts are not visible to me. :peaceful:
Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Is there any way we can "graduate" Clevin Hannah early?

I don't know... make a few "donations" to Chipola and allow him to test out of the second semester... just thinking out loud here.

Still, how does this domino for the rest of the team? Who would be your 5th starter? How would subs be affected?

Gal is not a PG, no matter how much he plays the position, he is a shooting guard. You can not make silk out of a pig's ear.

I say play Brett Michaels. He seems pretty sharp, handles the ball pretty good, is almost as fast as Matt, and is a PG. Didn't Brett come from Sunrise Academy, where that Egor, the Russian, is now?

Edited: Forgot all about Hatch? He would be one to play if Matt is out for awhile, plus the fact he's left handed, might disturb other teams a little.

My guess is that Gal and WP would have to run the point. If Michaels had the skills to be out there and play a few minutes we would probably would have seen him already.

If he can't play tomorrow were in more trouble than we would have been with him. Not good at all.

This was from the paper yesterday:

                        Ouch

The Shockers got a scare when senior guard Matt Braeuer hit the floor hard chasing a rebound late in the game.

He got up slowly and went to the bench accompanied by trainer Todd Fagan. Fagan later took Braeuer into the Koch Arena tunnel, just before he came back into the game with 5:41 to play and WSU down 53-49.

"We're very fearful of that," Marshall said. "We need him out there. He's quite a competitor. He gets a lot out of 155 pounds."
So that could lead us to believe that he got another one and it just doesn't mention the ride to the hospital afterwards.

If this is true, how many is that now? I believe he already had 2. One each the past 2 seasons. That would be 3 and the magic number on concussions as well.

Actually, as hard as he slammed to the court, I thought he showed lots of intestional fortitude returning to the Drake game. The Illinois State game without MB would be very scarey!!!!!!!
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

MB is a tough kid. He is going to want to play and may feel well enough to be out there. However, if he did suffer another concussion, the final decision will not be his.

                              Question . . .

Did they say he was taken to get treated for a concussion or to be tested for a concussion?

I would think it would be all over the news if he indeed was diagnosed with a concussion.
