Maybe an injury to Matt could help this team...

We need Matt to get better (I assume he will play Tuesday), but I think Gal is a point and not a two. He struggled against pressure early in the season, but lots of point guards have trouble when only getting a minute or two. He has been fine with bringing the ball up against pressure and it is his natural position. If he gets more touches on the ball I think he will make better decisions and probably will not feel the need to force play since he will know more opportunities are coming.

Overall, Gal still looks like he had hand-cuffs in some situations; most notably the catch and drive then dish plays we have not seen much of this year. He needs to be able to seize those opportunities in the "flow" of the game... as of right now he only does it after the entire team refuses to try to score.

Maybe a game or two without Matt could force PJ, Gal, and Ellis to step-up and show some respectable ability.

He was diagnosed with a concussion.

CT scan results were negative, and the full extent of how bad hasn't been determined. Will probably be checked out today to determine if he can play tomorrow.

Have we seen Wendell at the point? All I know about him is he plays good defense--running the offense is another thing though. I have been more impressed with his play so far this season....

The reason I say this is he's got a lot more experience playing than Graham or Brett--who both would be good bench relief if Wendell were up to it...

One thing's for sure--we'll need someone to spark our scoring if Matt's not healthy...

I disagree with you. Other teams are familiar with Preadom, and they know he is not a threat, either shooting or assist-wise. They would not have to guard him very hard at all, and could double up on our other players that are threats.

Having Brett or Graham in there, they would not know what to expect, and they would not be able to shift around their defense like they could with Preadom in there. And Hatch has a good shot.

Need I remind you of past years when we only had 2 players, 3 at the most, that were capable of scoring, and what the opposing teams did to us to stop us then? Having players on the court that can't score is like having deadwood in a company. They look good wondering around, but they never really do anything.

If he was diagnosed with a concussion, he won't be playing tomorrow. Not with this being the how ever many'th he's had. And whoever said it won't be his decision is correct. It'll be a doctor's whether or not he ever plays again.

I think most of you are being selfish, this is a mans life. I really care less if he plays, i just hope he will be ok, because concussion are not something you can take lightly.

I agree. I couldn't care less if he misses a few games to make sure he's ok.

                - Does Lance Harris play PG? He's a senior, maybe he'll end up getting more minutes. He used to be quite the scorer when he was at the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville.

I would rather see him than slow Hatch.

I suppose Wendell is mostly a 'role' player. As I said, I do like his defense. Where's Clevin when you need him? LOL

No surprise here. You could tell he hit hard enough to jolt the brain. Poor kid. I hope he gets all his marbles clicking 100% asap. Personally for the guys long-term health...I'd rather not see him play anymore. I know he will, but man...he's got his whole life in front of him.

                      Get well Matt!!!

Hate to say it, but I'd rather not see him play again also. This young man has most of his life in front of him and suffering permanent brain damage in a college basketball game isn't worth it.

I really don't think they will let him play...he was never the same last year after it happened..could be the same now

don't think anybody is being selfish at all, we're concerned about the status of our team captain and best player so far this year. Nobody said they want to see Matt play if it means risking serious injury, but people did say that if the decision were up to Matty B, he would be playing no matter what. He's a competitor, gotta admire that. But of course is health has to come first, and if he in fact did suffer another concussion, this would be at least #3 that we know of. It may be time for him to hang up his basketball shoes. Matt is going to be a succesful coach, I've called some of his teams MAYB games, and I can see that he is very strategic as a coach. He could probably go into USD259 as a JV coach and do better than a lot of coaches there. Best of luck to Matt whatever his future holds

I was looking right at it when it happened and that was a wicked hit. I can't believe with his history the trainers weren't there immediately, and I was surprised to see him "allowed" back in the game. I say it that way because you KNOW Matt's gonna say he's alright and wants to play! It'd suck to lose him but the #1 thing is his long term health and making sure he's alright, so get well Matt!

I failed to echo most everyone's sentiments....

GET WELL MATT. We love having you on the team, and WSU basketball owes you a debt of gratitude for all you've done and given to the program in your tenure here.

I remember seeing Matt (along with PJ and Sean) back in their Freshman season for the first time. I don't remember what game it was, but it was early in the season. If memory serves, coach Turgeon was unhappy with the results of having his normal starting line up in (Jamar, Kampman, etc.) and he substituted the Freshman bunch in. IMMEDIATELY there was an increase in energy and excitement, and I remember saying to my wife (and that was the first WSU game she ever attended--now she's a dedicated fan!) "Those 3 guys are going to be special for us in the years to come." Man, I'm glad I was right. Without those guys the Sweet 16 would've been only a pipe dream (of course Paul was a big part of that), and I personally will always be grateful for what they contributed.

I had a nickname for Matt--Scrappy Doo... small, but fearless! Needless to say, it was given with the upmost respect! :good:

Let's hope that no matter what happens, Matt will be HEALTHY regardless of whether he plays again.
