  • “GOAT” OF 100 YEARS OF SHOCKER LORE TOURNAMENT

This year’s “Corona Madness” event will include teams from the last 100 years. The big questions on Shocker Fans minds are: who gets the coveted #1 Seeds (top 4 teams), who are the Last Four-in and who are the First Four-out, what Regions (Black, Gray, White, or Yellow) will teams be placed and matched up against, and which Head Coach gets the most teams in?

32 Teams will enter this year’s
ROUNDHOUSE, but there can only be ONE CHAMPION!
So who will be the last team standing, who will be cutting down nets, and who will be crowned the
    Greatest Of All Time (GOAT).

Selection Show to be held Sunday at 7:30pm on July 19th on SHOCKERNET.NET LIVE!

    Schedule
1st Round match-ups will played Monday, July 20th and Tuesday, July 21st – 32 teams
2nd Round match-ups will played Wednesday, July 22nd and Thursday, July 23rd – 16 teams
    3rd Round match-ups will played Tuesday, July 28th – 8 teams
Final Four match-ups will played Wednesday, July 29th – 4 teams
Championship Game played on Thursday, July 30th – 2 teams

    SELECTION COMMITTEE: WuShock Reaper, Chairman

SELECTION CRITERIA: The “Committee” will be evaluating team selection based on Total Wins/Losses (win %), Conference Record (win %) and Placement, Post Season Play and Record, etc.

SEEDING CRITERIA: Seeding and bracketing will based on an extensive season-long evaluation of teams through historical recollections, watching games, monitoring press coverage, and our secret advisory committee member’s rankings which will be used to seed each team. Also, to avoid coaches from playing themselves in the First and Second rounds, teams may be moved up/down a seed-line.

p.s. the Selection Committee Chairman is susceptible to inducements.

BREAKING NEWS: "Kansas basketball hit again, with major NCAA violation charges stemming from FBI probe". J. Edgar Hoover, FBI Director commented, “we caught the Jayhawks red-handed, and it was bad, like a man wearing a dress.”

Well for punishment, Cleveland State (CSU) would have been banned from post-season play for two years during the last century. However, since CSU did not field a team until 1929, the “Committee on Unfair Penalties”, had no choice but to go to their backup plan, which resulted in Wichita State’s Teams, Coached by Sam Hill in both the 1923-24 (10 wins -12 losses) and 1924-25 (9 wins - 9 losses) teams being banned for two years.

Coach Hill commented, “Our chances for making the Shocker Lore ‘GOAT’ Tournament were pretty much non-existent, however, we are extremely disappointed in the C.U.P. and their decision. We are being penalized for coaches and players from a different era. Hell, it’s a different century. I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have cussed.”

COMMITTEE UPDATE: The “Selection Committee” arrived this evening and was immediately sworn into secrecy. In a secure location, more secretive then a CIA safe house (I think they are at Larry Bud’s), over the next three days the committee will deliberate the worthiness of 100 teams (minus 2 because of sanctions) as they whittle down these teams to just 32. Their votes will be made public on Sunday, July 19th 2020 at 7:30pm on SHOCKERNET.NET LIVE!

            COMMITTEE UPDATE - DAY 1:
"The Committee" has completed their first full day of deliberations and its been a busy one. Already, head coaches like Lindsay Austin, Mark Turgeon, Gene Smithson, Gregg Marshall, and Ralph Miller have had teams eliminated. Its brutal folks, When you have top WSU historical coaches losing teams this early, you can rest assured "the Committee" is taking their task of finding the very best 32 teams seriously. In addition, two teams appear to be headed for #1-seeds already and will have an inside track to make it past the first round of the “GOAT” OF 100 YEARS OF SHOCKER LORE TOURNAMENT. After that, all bets are off.

              COMMITTEE UPDATE - DAY 2, 9:00a.m.:
"The Commiitte" is back in the deliberations room, and already discussions are centering around whether or not there should be limits on the number of teams from a particular "Coaching Era". "The Committee" was instructed to go back to their selection criteria and select the top 32 teams. They should ignore the coaches name on the back of Jersey, and select the top 32 teams.

I don't like anyone on the Selection Committee. They are biased and their backgrounds, qualifications, and credentials are questionable. I'm sure I won't agree with their selections.

                  COMMITTEE UPDATE - DAY 2, 12;00 noon:
In this morning’s deliberations, “the Committee” has identified 13 teams, after the first two-rounds of voting, who have made this year’s “GOAT” tournament, with 19 more teams to be added. There are now 37 teams remaining in consideration for those final spots. Several Coaches have already expressed publicly, “My teams have had very good seasons and should be invited. They might not have names on the back of their jerseys, but they are winners and have proven it throughout the full-season. We also had some early season injuries which lowered our overall record and that should be taken in consideration. We are coming on strong here lately and have the potential to make a deep-run.”

In addition, this year’s “Selection Committee” is the most diverse and experienced committee in the history of the “GOAT”. There is over 3+ years of experience as a player in Biddy League (with one league Championship), 5+ years of experience as a player in Church Leagues (with one league Championship and one runner-up), and 4+ years of experience as a intramural player while attending WSU playing on such courts as Henrion Gymnasium, Heskett Center, and Levitt Arena. In addition, “the Committee” has 4+ years head-coach of Youth League (we never finished last), and has 30+ years’ experience as a fan. To impugn the integrity of this year’s “Selection Committee” is a travesty and the “the Committee” will not allow such baseless lies to go unanswered.

I wonder if there's going to be a BCS bias?
