Best ham sandwich was The Cedar.
The Cedar "ham sandwich" was legendary... I'm an 'older fart' and it's still the best sandwich I've ever eaten.

There was a place on Seneca just south of Kellogg that was nearly as good

Let me clarify. I studied the beer list, which made my sandwich order appropriate to the style of hops I would consume.

Wasn't it The College Inn? We called it the CI. Could be wrong... too many moons ago.

                      Vaguely recall downing $1.00 pitchers...

The Tropics Lounge on N. Broadway used to serve pretty good thick stacked deli ham sandwiches as did Mulligan's Pub a little bit east and north of Northrock Lanes.

Amarillo Grill also had a location on the east side at Central and Carriage Parkway (just east of Edgemoor). I thought it was decent eats. But for some reason nothing has really stuck at that location.
