Remember when Wichita State had a football team and we had a quarterback named Prince McJunkins who was the first college QB to lead the nation in passing yards (4000) AND rushing yards (2000) for the season?

Sorry, is this a basketball “remember when” only thread?

The Prince later played Pro football in Canada? What a talent he was and I loved watching him play.

Remember when X-Man led the Country in scoring and rebounding the same Season?

Remember when Bobby Knight cut A. Carr and Charles Barkley? How does that happen?

Remember way back when the Shocker team made the Final 4 without Dave Stallworth and Nate Bowman playing 2nd Semester. Bill Bradley scored more than 40 against us I think.

Remember when the thrashing the Shocker gave Creighton on their home court as their fans were hitting the exits in record breaking fashion. It was great fun watching that game.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

WSU 116 Bradley 92 sometime in the 87-88 season. Bradley was ranked and Hawkins was unstoppable and had like 30 points at half. I haven't looked up the box score. I was a senior at WSU. Best game during my college years.

Found it. Hawkins ended up with 37. Game was tied at 49-49 at the half. Shocks went crazy in the 2nd outscoring Bradley 67-43. Dwayne Praylow had 24, Sasha 21, and Lew HIll 21 while the 3 of them shot 25-36 for the game. WSU shot 80.8 in the 2nd, 63.5 for the game.

Bill Bracley scored 58 in that NCAA game

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

A running banked in hook shot wasn't it.

That was back in the day of free Wendy's food when the Shox scored 100. Wichita Eagle cartoon editorialist Crowson had a great one for the next day of WuShock waiting for his Wendy's saying something like "I'll take 10,656 (can't recall if it was Frostee or burger) to go please. I kept a cut out of it for years afterwards. And Hershey Hawkins was a class a STUD of a basketball player for Bradley FWIW.

X-Man will forever be my favorite Shocker of all time, and not just because he played with the same hairline as Professor X.

Finally, Jason Perez. Playing SIU I think during the Webber tenure. SHox were down to a great Saluki squad with just mere seconds on the clock. Perez ran down oh so casually threw up a shot from the 3 point line and just kept on running into the locker room as the Shox won.

Kind of like this, but not Larry, and certainly not wearing a Celtics jersey.

                          remember when:
-The Shocks beat Iowa in the LOUDEST ARENA EVER??? Caused Lute Olson to call a timeout he didn't have...and Randy made two free throws, I THINK, falling down backwards on one...
-Jason Perez leaped onto the scorers' table to save a loose ball and made to the other end to score.....

It was a Wendy's 'single' burger... fun times.

Remember when the old man sat behind the scorer's table and shot off a starters pistol at the end of each half. Reflexes were slowing and then someone forgot to load the gun and that was it for him...a horn was installed!

No doubt I could be foggy on this one, but I swear there was a Shocker game where I saw Jason legitimately playing the 5, guarding the opposing team's center. No other "big man" was on the court for the Shocks. The reason I remember this is at that time I said "Now I've seen him play all 5 positions for the Shocks".
