On the surface you dismiss the ISU win, but Norfolk State isn't bad. They've played Marquette 2 times, losing 59-57 on a neutral court. Also have a win over TCU, Eastern Kentucky and Drexel.

That's a fairly impressive outcome for ISU if you ask me. I suspect their RPI takes a somewhat substantial jump tomorrow.

Norfolk State is in the rpi top 50 right now. They probably won't stay there once they start conference play but will probably end up in the top 100.

According to the boxscore I saw, 17 players saw court time for Norfolk. I thought the roster limit for a single game was 15?

CU up on Tulsa 42-34 at the half. McDermott could go for 40. He's got 19 on 9/12. He's hitting everything and he's being defended fairly well. He's just on fire. CU also doing a pretty good job of keeping the ball away from TU's inside players. TU is 3/9 from 3. CU isn't better, but CU is scoring inside and has only taken 3 3's - and made 1.

The big surprise is that CU is outrebounding Tulsa 16 - 13. Echinique has no stats other than 2 fouls and 1 TO, so Artino is seeming effective. Lots of long rebounds are helping CU's stats on the boards.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

I know SIU-E is horrible, but I sure hope SIU isn't getting better right now. We sure don't need them being a thorn in the Valley's side....

To this point in the season, SIU has one game against a team with an RPI below 200. SLU beat them 61-42.

After tonight SIU will have 3 wins. Those teams and their RPI's are:
                        ChiSt - 315
                        NIU - 337
                        SIU-E - 327

I didn't know it was possible to schedule that weak, but SIU has had a really weak schedule. It's hard to place any value on any of SIU's wins. SIU probably isn't a bottom-10 team, which their current RPI would indicate, but they're close. Probably a legitimate 300 RPI team. Once they hit the Valley schedule, their RPI should improve, but that will have absolutely no effect on anything, except that it will help the Valley maintain a meaningless conference RPI ranking.

Next up for SIU is Kansas State. That's gonna be ugly.

I didn't think it was possible, but SIU-C's win over SIU-E actually lowered SIU-C's RPI. SIU-E dropped from 335 to 338.

Valley goes 5-0 against mostly weak competition.

Davidson leading KU in the second half by 2, KU struggling against 2-3 zone
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kickass ... and I'm all out of bubblegum.
