December 30, 2017 - #8 Wichita State at Connecticut
No. 8/10 Wichita State's American Athletic Conference debut went like so many other road games before it. Rashard Kelly logged a double-double, and the Shockers (11-2, 1-0 American) used timely three-point shooting to finish off UConn, 72-62, at the XL Center. Kelly finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds (half of them on the offensive end) on 5-of-6 shooting. He recorded his 500^th career rebound in the first half, becoming just the 40^th Shocker to reach that milestone.

February 18, 2018 - #19 Wichita State at #5 Cincinnati
The Shockers are back in the American Athletic Conference race. No. 19/18 Wichita State ended No. 5/5 Cincinnati's nation-best 39-game home winning streak and notched its first true road win over an AP Top-5 opponent in 54 years with a 76-72 victory Sunday afternoon at Northern Kentucky University's BB&T Arena. WSU (21-5, 11-3 American) moved to within a game of first-place Cincinnati (23-4, 12-2) with four games to play. The Bearcats make a return trip to Wichita for the March 4 season finale. The Shockers -- who are also tied with Houston for second place in the standings -- can guarantee at least a share of the conference regular season crown by winning out.

March 4, 2018 - #10 Cincinnati vs #11 Wichita State
No. 10 Cincinnati came up with a stop in the final seconds to defeat No. 11 Wichita State, 62-61, Sunday afternoon at Charles Koch Arena in the 2017-18 home finale. With the win, Cincinnati (27-4, 16-2) clinched the American Athletic Conference regular season championship. Wichita State (24-6, 14-4) will now be the No. 2 seed in this week's Aaron's American Athletic Conference Championship in Orlando, Fla.

Sunday's home finale also marked the final home game for Wichita State's six seniors: #0 Rashard Kelly, #1 Zach Brown, #20 Rauno Nurger, #21 Darral Willis Jr., #24 Shaquille Morris, and #33 Conner Frankamp.

No. 2 seed Wichita State held off several comeback attempts from No. 7 Temple to record its first-ever win in the American Athletic Conference Championship. The Shockers defeated the Owls, 89-81.

Third-seeded Houston came up with a stop in the final seconds to defeat No. 2 Wichita State, 77-74, in the semifinals of the American Athletic Conference Championship Saturday night at the Amway Center. Wichita State (25-7) will now wait and see where they are headed in the Big Dance during Sunday's Selection Show.

"...TBS’ NCAA Selection Show Sunday was a disaster on many levels, but the fundamental problem was it tried to be too cute.

Beginning with how it announced the selections to the cheesy studio audience to forcing co-host Ernie Johnson to prop up a pizza advertiser by taking a bite out of a slice, they tried to be too cute, which was the underlying problem with the whole mess.

When you try to reinvent something and the audio doesn’t sync up and the lights go out, it is a triple play. That is why the first team on the ropes this tourney is Turner. It took over the Selection Show from CBS, which had broadcast since 1982, and it went awfully...."

Marshall vs. Wichita State: the Thundering Herd pull off the upset

Fourth-seeded Wichita State saw its season come to a close in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to No. 13 Marshall, 81-75, Friday at Viejas Arena. Playing in its seventh-straight NCAA Tournament, Wichita State (25-8) entered the contest having won at least one game in five straight NCAA appearances.

WSU returns just 11.2 percent of its minutes from last season, the second-fewest in the NCAA but with head coach Gregg Marshall and preseason second-teamer Markis McDuffie in the fold, the Shockers will look to continue their streak of seven-straight seasons in the NCAA tournament and nine-consecutive years with at least 25 wins. Wichita State has won 82 percent of its games since 2010 with only Gonzaga (84.4) and Kansas (82.2) with higher percentages

November 9, 2018 - Veteran's Classic, Providence vs Wichita State
Markis McDuffie set a Veterans Classic scoring record and a new career-high with 32 points to lead Wichita State to an 83-80 win over Providence College Friday evening at a sold out Alumni Hall. McDuffie hit six threes (another personal-best) on nine attempts. Five of them came in the second half. His 32 points tied Fred VanVleet for the second-highest point total by a Marshall Era Shocker (2007-Pr.). Only Cleanthony Early (39 against Southern Illinois in 2013) has scored more in Marshall's 12 seasons on the WSU bench.

December 1, 2018 - Baylor at Wichita State
Wichita State played the perfect first half, then survived an imperfect second to defeat Baylor, 71-63, Saturday night at a sold-out Charles Koch Arena. The Shockers used first-half runs of 12-0, 18-1 and 11-0 to build an eye-opening 43-9 lead. Visiting Baylor countered with runs of 11-2, 9-0 and 16-1 after halftime to claw within 60-55 at the 3:47-mark.

January 30, 2018 - SMU at Wichita State
Senior Samajae Haynes-Jones drove to the basket and converted a reverse layup with less than a second remaining in regulation to lift Wichita State(9-11, 2-6 AAC) to an 85-83 victory over SMU inside Charles Koch Arena.

February 28, 2019 - Uconn at Wichita state
Samajae Haynes-Jones jumper as time expired helped lift the Wichita State men's basketball team to a 65-63 win over the UConn Huskies Thursday, Feb. 28, inside Charles Koch Arena. The victory was the 300th at WSU for 12th season head coach Gregg Marshall. After UConn's Alterique Gilbert converted back-to-back three pointers in the final 45 seconds of regulation to tie the game at 63, Haynes-Jones took the ball the length of the floor and swished home a running fadeaway jump shot just as the final horn sounded. It was his second game-winner of the season after he beat the horn to give WSU an 85-83 victory over SMU

March 9, 2019 - Wichita State at Tulane
Dexter Dennis sank a corner three with no time on the clock to give Wichita State an 82-79 victory over Tulane Saturday evening at Devlin Fieldhouse.
Tied at 79, WSU inbounded under the Tulane basket with 0.5 seconds on the clock. Dennis flashed to the near corner, caught a pass from Ricky Torres and uncorked the game-winner a split-second before time expired. It was the third game-winning buzzer-beater for WSU (17-13, 10-8 American) in the last five weeks. The Shockers won for the ninth time in 11 tries following a 1-6 start to conference play.

2019 AAC Conference Tournament, March 14 thru 17, 2019




March 14, 2017 - #11 ECU vs #6 Wichita State
Wichita State advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2019 Air Force Reserve American Athletic Conference Championship with a 73-57 win over ECU. The Shockers advance to take on No. 3 seed Temple at 8 p.m. on Friday. Markis McDuffie led the Shockers with 15 points, while Jaime Echenique had 14 points and nine rebounds. Dexter Dennis finished with 13 points, while Asbjorn Midtgaard had 10 points and seven rebounds.



March 15, 2017 - #6 Wichita State vs #3 Temple
Wichita State moved on to the semifinals of the 2019 Air Force Reserve American Athletic Conference Championship with an 80-74 win over No. 3 seed Temple. The Shockers will face No. 2 seed Cincinnati at 4 p.m. on Sat., March 16. Markis McDuffie led the Shockers with a career-high 34 points and also had 12 rebounds. Dexter Dennis also added a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds



March 16, 2019 - #6 Wichita State vs #3 Cincinnati
Wichita State's run in the 2019 Air Force Reserve American Athletic Conference Championship came to an end with a 66-63 loss to No. 2 seed Cincinnati. The Shockers battled back from 13 down in the second half to tie it at 63, but the Bearcats used a layup and a free throw in the last 30 seconds to earn the win. Markis McDuffie finished with 18 points, while Samajae Haynes-Jones added 17.

Wichita State has been selected to compete in the 2019 National Invitation Tournament (NIT). The Shockers are seeded sixth and will travel to Greenville, S.C. on Wednesday for a first round date with No. 3 seed Furman (25-7, 13-5 Southern). WSU and Furman have never met on the hardwood. The winner will face either No. 2 seed Clemson (19-13) or No. 7 seed Wright State (21-13) next weekend. Higher seeds host in each of the first three rounds. WSU entered 2018-19 with one of the nation's least-experienced rosters but gelled in February and March. The Shockers (19-14, 10-8 American) have won 11 of their last 14 games and made it to the semifinals of this weekend's AAC Tournament.

March 20, 2019 - #6-seed Wichita State vs #3-seed Furman
Jaime Echenique and fellow center Asbjørn Midtgaard took center stage in Wednesday's 76-70 win over third-seeded Furman at Timmons Arena in the NIT. Wichita State had to utilize its size to win and it needed every inch of its advantage over the Paladins. Echenique scored 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds for his second double-double this season. Midtgaard scored nine points, grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked two shots in 16 minutes off the bench. Marshall claimed career win No. 500 (500-195 in 21 seasons) and the Shockers hit the 20-win mark for the 10th consecutive season.
