And the virus ain’t gonna stop spreading by closing down the nation’s sporting events either.

The NCAA and the conferences are covering their arses from litigation. If a college basketball player contracted the virus and died, you can imagine the parents and an ambulance chasing lawyer would sue both parties.

Unless they could prove that they forced players to play against their will, I don't see how that would end up in trail.

Or imagine a cluster of patients/deaths from the fans that attended.

Big 10, Big 12 and most of the major conferences are doing no fans starting tomorrow.

Big 10 also just announced no fans at all spring sports too...

Seriously Fever!!!! Since you seem to be opposed to closing down the sporting events, what do you or others think would help stop the spreading of this virus in our country? You do realize that a number of events other than sporting events have canceled their events. For example a short list includes the New York International Car Show, Global Health Conference in Orlando, Google I O Developmental Event Palo Alto, Television shows with live audiences, Tuscon Book of Festival, Houston Livestock show, and South by Southwest Festival in Austin. I could go on but I think would be a waste of time for some of you guys.

I am really disappointed that the NCAA made this decision. I love college basketball and its my all time favorite sport. And having a lot of fans at the game with all the excitement is great to watch. But I got to assume that the NCAA people did not make this decision lightly. You do realize that currently there is no cure for this virus. It is not like the flu or pneumonia. We can all go to the doctor and take shots for that. But this is a new virus, and there is no vaccine they can give you to save your life. If the medical experts say avoiding big crowd events helps stop the spread of the disease, why are you opposed to it?

It’s almost like some intern did a google search on March madness and some WSU video popped up.

The problem I see with this isn't necessarily the virus (or those who get it) itself, but the burden it will put on the healthcare system, which will result in people who need care for other things not being able to get it. For that reason I think it's our responsibility to do what we can to minimize the spread.

This is a really good point. Not enough beds, nurses, doctors, etc.

There is now cure for any flu, you just get over it, just like almost everyone does this one This contrived hysteria is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. The drive to Dallas is more dangerous than actually having this virus for most people. If you are in the small group of people that is affects hard then just stay home. There is a calculated risk every time we decide to walk out the front door. I can make the decision on if I want to take that risk myself without big brother telling me what I can and can't do. If they should attempt quarantine me they better have some damn big guns because they will need them.

Do you even know what the Flu shot is? It isn't a "cure". You can't take medicine to cure a virus. Only medicine to help alleviate the symptoms. A virus simply has to run it's course......
