Yes, Memphis is as bad as us offensively. Last night we proved that theory wrong.

      • This was not my first post commenting on players lack of movement without the ball and too much dribbling. We only had
eight assists last night and only three by our two starting freshmen guards. Can't win like that. Coach has to insert players
with good court vision and propensity to find open team mates. Look at cumulative stats and notice the guys with the most
assists. Very important stat along with rebounds and steals that are often over looked

So, why are we losing all these "winnable" and one-possession games? Several of the top teams in the league have had multiple OT games.
If you want a serious answer ... Look at the team that has had the most one-possession/OT wins this year in the league .. Cincy.

What do they have that we don't?

A senior returning AAC player of the year (who is a guard that can create for himself) that can take over in crunch time. We don't have that. We have one senior ... who is a great player, but needs someone to set him up. We have no set player who is good at creating late in games/halves. As much as SHJ/MM took dumb shots throughout the year last year, they were clutch in the last parts of the games and could create their own shots.

that's why UK always struggles early, then makes a run in March......cause freshman get better over the course of the season. Ours have not

Assist numbers tend to go down when you are bricking shots left and right. Gotta make the shot for someone to get an assist. We took more bad shots last night than say the Tulsa game, but we also took a lot of good ones that just didnt' go in.

                • I agree about everyone's thoughts on our post play. If AM is never going to play, he is wasting a scholarship and needs to go. IPBC is simply not good enough for AAC level bigs. There is a huge gap in talent between Us, Memphis, UConn, and Houston. Those teams are just more talented and it has been showing lately.

Shoot, even against SMU I felt like they had more talent than we do.

                  • To me, the most concerning thing about last night outside of another horrible shooting game (FTs ... come on) was the fact that a team that turns the ball over on 25% of it's possession only turned it over 7 times .... We did not take advantage of their weakness by trying to force them out of their comfort zone.

                    • Welp, I guess we can all officially stop getting our hopes up about this year. I feel bad for JE.

My top 2 picks for potential transfer candidates before the season started were ES and GS. ES because I thought he may get pushed down the bench because his lack of athletic ability. GS because I could see a scenario where he didn’t like not being the man/become outshined by TE. Neither of those narratives played out fully, but it still seems those 2 are the top candidates for not being on the team next season.

IMO I don’t think GS fits in well with Marshall’s system. Marshall needs a cerebral, team oriented, tough, and unselfish competitor running his point. Those attributes are far more important than athletic ability or shot creating ability. I honestly don’t think I’ve seen GS even demonstrate in flashes that he has those attributes. I also don’t think those are attributes you can overly learn...

I have not idea what’s going on with ES. 12 games ago people were comparing him to Baker. He has obviously shown that he has the ability to be fit in the system and excel. I think he has a place on this team as a contributor if him/Marshall can figure it out.

                      • Also, we are ****ed at the 5 next season. MU, AM, and IBC are not impact players.

                        • There’s several things you need from a PG (court vision, ability to control pace, defense, quick hands, incredible ball control, ability to penetrate and feed the post, coach on the floor, the list goes on). Tell me which of these things GS does well. I just see a guy that has played a lot of basketball and has been assigned the position. At least JB can do a few of these things.

                              • When you have parents of players publicity calling out the team and staff, that’s a red alert for internal issues.
