Maybe so, but we were sooo bad at the beginning of last year that we had to play catch up just to make the NIT. Outside of Burton, I’m not sure any of our returners are better now year vs end of last year.

This is where I'm at. Nobody wanted to play us. We also had McDuffie. I think it was doc that said we'd miss McDuffie more than we thought. His WAR would be like 4 or 5 this season.

Not foreseeing a route to the NCAA tournament now. We are poorly coached, have nobody that can consistently make shots, and are not a cohesive unit. Nothing has been fixed or changed all year, and is unlikely to change without alterations in the offseason, both with coaching approach and player personnel.

At the end of the day, this falls back on the coaching staff. This is not acceptable for the amount our head coach makes, our fan support, and what is available to our players.

Looks like the need for a major reset like you say. For some reason I don't think Marshall has ever done a major reset in terms of his coaching. Someone like Sampson has probably probably picked himself off the floor and done it a couple of times.

I was posting prior to tip-off and I have posted on wins as well as losses! Every honest contributor to this forum knows, without a doubt, if anybody here is a douchebag, it is you!

1. TE and GS stand around too much and were absolutely dominated tonight. They are low energy. GS had a couple late
baskets but was pathetic almost the entire night. He was the biggest reason we got so far behind. Unless these two bring
some energy and ability to penetrate soon I'm ready for NF and ??.
2. Why rag on ES? At least he plays with passion and rebounds. MUCH better all around player than TE or GS.
3. No ball movement or player movement without the ball. We played lazy and not very smart.
4. Terrible shot by DD to close the half and then TE plays off Harris with a couple seconds left.
5. Seriously, if TE and GS can't play with more energy than what I witnessed tonight I'd rather see Busse.
6. GM didn't coach well tonight letting low energy players stay out there but have to give him credit for coaching this bunch
of players to 22 W's.
7. We are a much better team when ES starts and plays north of 25 minutes. He brings energy and passion that several
other players do not. If we lose him we will be in MUCH bigger trouble next year. He, JB and DD are the nucleus we

I can't see where the team will be better next year than this year. I'm skeptical of this team winning a road game in the NIT.

When a player moves from starter to role player, and at the same time the team 's ceiling drops like a rock...Do you trust Marshall? There's likely to be a reason that player's role changed significantly. Either that player's attitude changed or that player's ability to perform on the court dropped like a rock, or perhaps that player changed from having a hot hand to having a hot head.

Wasn't there a respected player development guy, Devon Smith I think, on the staff a couple years ago and now he's gone? Player development seems to not be at the level it was at a few years ago. Staff turnover has been pretty high. Perhaps that is contributing to a break in continuity of reloading instead of rebuilding. It looks like we are in a rebuild phase for at least the third year next year.

Didn't lose it at the line like I thought. Too bad got down that far, might of had a chance at the end. Every possession counts: end 1 half, we had ball and 34 sec on clock, we take a shot at 22, bad miss by DD. They go hit a three. If we get a decent shot, make or miss, either tied or 2 pt game at half. Different mindset for both teams starting 2nd.

They rode the bench, but many followed that up by having pretty damn solid years at other schools.

Where? UNC Greensboro? N.C. Central, UL Monroe? When they were fourth year guys? We're talking about there being guys on this team that are not high level D1 players, everyone that has transferred out went to smaller schools and did well.

I think the argument is why have we had so many misses on recruits. I got that it is a hard business but it seems like we bring guys in and hope they turn out..at least in the mid 2010s.
