  • For what it is worth, espn's Fran Franchilla (according to Kaplan on espnU broadcast of ISU-UE game) says that WSU at Murray St and St. Mary's at CU would be the best match ups.

Hopefully Fran Franchilla has a say on who plays who.

BTW- They mentioned LBSU at Iona as the 3rd best game.

Glad I got this resolved before the meltdown. Wouldn't get unemotional answers now.

So losing to 95ish RPI Drake as an away game isn't nearly the bad loss that several have stated. That's good.

      • With the Indiana State win tonight against Evansville, I am guessing they are on the right side of the bubble for the ESPN Bracketbuster TV games. Also, and if I am correct (I will know better in the morning when the RPI Rankings will have been updated with all of todays games) this will put six MVC teams in the Selection Committee room for serious discussion regarding the MVC garning the lion's share of TV games. I guess we will find out if our MVC Comish is earning his pay.

        • So what is your guess on who we get? I'll go with Murry State.

I think we all hope we get Murry State. What time do they announce tomorrow?

            • 5:30pm not for sure if that is central or eastern time. I was hoping to get a feel of who people think we will be matched with, not our desire. I don't. feel confident about getting Murry State but I give that the edge over the other possibilities of Iona, ORU and Ohio.

              • We'll probably know before then (ahem) and I bet it's Iona/ORU......60/40.

What tipped me to Murry State was Franchilla's statement about WSU/Murry State being the best match up. Guessing he has pull. I put Iona as second and ORU third most likely.

I agree with you. I know it certainly made me feel a lot better about our chances. The espnU show is at 5:30pm Central Time/6:30pm Eastern Time.

                    • The other thing that started me thinking our chances of Murry St are pretty good is that this whole Bracketbusters thing was Elgin's brainchild and I got to believe he also has some pull with espn.

I don't think it would look very good if the Valley gets totally screwed this year, and if they would send SMC to Murry St. that would screw both WSU and CU. I would think that Elgin would do everything he could to prevent that from happening.

                      • It'll be Iona IMHO. Which sucks.

Saw an article where Elgin says he no longer has pull. It is completely up to ESPN and who they feel the "sexy" matchups are. Even he said that it appeared ESPN was really intrigued by a St Mary's/Murray St matchup.

                          • Here's an article I saw matching up teams by RPI. Hopefully it's how thing will shake out for everyone.

                            • Just checked tonight's rpis on Warren Nolan: CU #15, St. Mary's #19 and WSU #31, Murry St. #33.
CU-SMC and WSU-Murry St. are almost perfect matches. You really can't get any closer than these.

You do anything differently and everybody ends up with big differences in their rpis.

Last night I was totally expecting a total screw job, tonight I am feeling a lot more optimistic.

I like the way they match up in that article. They list the top 11 games and it gives the Valley 5 TV games out of the 11 (Indy State could be in the next 2 games to give the Valley 6 games).

Not only does it match CU and SMC, and WSU and Murry St. it also places UNI at ORU. That would be a good match for UNI.
