I only watched a few minutes towards the end of the game. Davidson played a solid game. I'm pretty sure I spotted Bob McKillop in the stands during last years State basketball semifinals at Koch.Shocker fan for life after witnessing my first game in person, the 80-74 win over the #12 Creighton Bluejays at the Kansas Coliseum.

Davidson is a pretty good team. They looked alright in the game against Duke. They have played some good teams on the road, so as great as KU atmosphere is, it wasn't Davidson's first rodeo. I would wager Davidson as a middle of the pack finisher in the B12. KU will probably lose to an ISU or somebody in a conference game at home this year. That will be a much worse loss than Davidson. Food for thought when Evansville and SIU come calling at Koch.Wichita State, home of the All-Americans.

Yeh, we lost to Davidson. I don't see it as a bad loss, but it is the type of team that Self's hawks have always struggled with. Davidson hit 11 threes to KU's 6. It isn't often that KU shoots 26% from beyond the arc. KU also missed 13 FTs, which is completely unacceptable.
As for how would Davidson fair in the B12? Who knows. They are a solid team that got hot at the right moments and caught KU flat. I think KU wins 7-10 of those games, but you only get one shot. Pretty much the same way I feel about WSU.

Actually Wu, I think we can have all the shots we want as long as they're all on the ChickenHawk home court.:chuncky:"Hank Iba decided he wouldn't play my team anymore. He told me that if he tried to get his team ready to play me, it would upset his team the rest of the season." Gene Johnson, WU Basketball coach, 1928-1933.

OK, please don't tar and feather me for bringing this up. It's an honest question:
Several of us on this board rightly expressed frustration with what happened to our RPI after we played (and systematically dismantled) Chicago State. It really was horrific that our RPI dropped by half after that game. There seems to be a consensus that playing Newman was a great idea because it didn't hurt our RPI, and that scheduling Chicago State again shouldn't be any resort let alone a last resort. Correct me if I'm wrong, but at least the stated reason that KU refuses to play WSU is that KU is concerned that even in the unlikely event they won, their RPI would drop. Does anyone see the irony here? Granted, the latest update I see is KU's RPI is 32 and we're 46, so it's a small difference, but in the past there were strings of years when that has been much greater. I'm not trying to compare ourselves with Chicago State, or any other self-effacing analogy, I'm just asking a question to make sure our arguments have a leg to stand on. There's SO MANY things we can criticize KU for, I would just like this one to make sense to me.
Go easy on me. Thanks!"It's amazing to watch Ron slide into that open area, Fred will find him and it's straight cash homie."--HCGM
