On his weekly radio show tonight 3G said that Evan and Jake are not redshirting because they did not want to redshirt. Coach said he would have considered redshirting one or both of them but they did not want to redshirt. He told them that was fine and that he would try to develop them as much as he could in practice but that he could not guarantee them a lot of game time.

Ron Baker OTOH requested to be redshirted because he could see getting much PT during games this year was going to be problematic.

If we must play Chicago State this is the week to do it. Dealing with final exams is certainly a distraction that can add stress and lack of focus on basketball. I think we will do just fine and dandy.

Their desires were in exact alignment with what is best for the team, IMHO. I think it worked out perfectly.

If we play up to our capabilities against all comers there should be some good opportunities to get Evan and Jake (and for that matter James) some decent minutes here and there, although there best competition and learning is probably coming in practice going up against the likes of Toure, DK, Ben and Carl.

If we can improve upon our already solid quality depth at times like this, later, in the Valley of Death run and the Lou, that extra edge could mean something positive.
