We pounced ChaSoBucs because we are that much better than K-State. Well ... Maryland is bad right now and would make us look good just like ChaSoBucs did and they made Alabama look great.

So now its tricky. We've been tested once this year by Colorado. But Bama has had a better schedule so far.

I hate predicting losses. Matter of fact I won't, even though thats the likely outcome. Last year the magical formula for us was to get over 70 points. Lets see if that applies this year (Colorado aside).

Here's the deal "phase 2." It would be sweet to beat a ranked team. Today's paper has no line, so if somebody finds a fresh one, please post it. Back in the Cohen days, we beat Bama on a high tide at 21st and Hillside, close to Shocker Mountain. Last Season, we got the jump on Bama and beat them. This could prove to be an "eye of the tiger" type game. Who wants it the most? Are we in their heads or do they seek not just revenge but also some sweet reckoning to avenge? Do the Shocks understand that to Dance, we HAVE to pull these type of rare opportunities off? Let's hope our summer trip and solid depth will be enough. I still say, we HAVE to establish our inside presence first and then kick it out for some 3's. This game will be close and I hope no cigar for Bama. It appears the experts think they are improved from last Season. Tonight we will learn how our beloved Shocks are progressing. A win tonight would be a nice black and yellow feather in our caps.

Unfortunately, based on last night's sloppy performance, it doesn't look like the extra practice time and the games in South America seasoned this team at all. If the team that played the first 8 minutes and the last five last night shows up, we have a chance. If not, we will be lucky to stay within 12-15 points of Alabama.

Here's the deal "Phase 3." The line for the Colorado game was 9, as were the predictions of Downtown Shocker Brown, VT Shocker, and Carmax, and we win by 9. Now it is time for some SN type logic. First of all, we will throw out todays line because they will pick the Tide and who really knows what will come out in the wash? Tsk tsk tsk. . However we just might clean their clock and expose their dirty laundry. Here comes the Shocker Net logic. Watch out below and proceed with caution.

You all ready for this? KC Shox is the doomsday shocker prognosticater, picking us to lose the tough games. FSF always has the 'eternal optimist black and gold pie in the sky mentallity' for the win, so the basketball gods will offset the obvious and declare that all a wash.

Now comes the 'rocket science' part. Since Downtown picks us tonight by 16 and VT by 4, we assume that Carmax will run the Tide through the wringer as well. There is nothing to worry about here, right? U like? Yikes!!! It's all good? Get ready because tonight will be a huge test for our Shocks. Opportunity is knocking and we have enough solid Seniors on this team to answer it this early in the Season? Stay tuned.

We definitely need a better performance from D-Will and Carl if we are going to hang with Alabama and that assumes Joe, David, Toure, Ben and Garrtt also play well. EO will also get his 10 minutes or so I would guess. I would think 3G will stay with his short bench throughout the Tournament since these games are our best opportunity this year to build a strong NCAA at-large resume.

No prediction.

This will be an ugly, physical brawl and probably pretty miserable to watch for the random hoops fan.

I am not sure the small line up that CGM has been using early in games will cut it against Alabama. I might go with Rags; Murry (if healthy, if not Kyles); Smith; Hall, GS to start the game. They need to get GS going early and force double teams – work inside out. Hall simply needs to focus on defense and rebounding. Cut down on the turnovers and get to the line a little more often and WSU has a shot. The thing that concerns me about Alabama this time around is they appear to be a better shooting team – as everyone knows they were terrible in New York.
