In my opinion, the Bat Wu video is a small problem when compared with the timing issues, and the band issues. First things first.

You aren't doing this for the kids, you are doing it for the 10,500 in attendance (which is 99% adults). Keep playing the video, that's fine. Just don't do it at this moment.
Thanks Shock-WU-9J45 for all of the videos. I don't see what the uproar is all about. (1) An airplane flies around and blows up the other team's logo (2) IronWU flies around and blows up the other team's logo (3) BatWU flies around and blows up the other team's logo. I don't see a difference. If it takes a video to get us excited, maybe it says more about us as fans and that "we" need to generate more excitement and not rely on a video to pump us up. Maybe somebody could come up with a good cheer for when BatWu is on.

I'm not sure WSU crowds are the organized cheer/chant kind of crowds generally. The loudest "prodded" cheers come when they turn the Shock-O-Meter on or they toss T-Shirts or Mini Basket Balls into the crowd.

In my view, WSU crowds seem to be more spontaneous crowds who react to the play on the floor. Sometimes getting behind the team when they are going well and sometimes pushing the team when things are not going so well and, all-in-all I think the fan base does pretty well in knowing when to bring the heat. I do think having the pep band well-organized with good music selections and with good timing can be and should be a very important part of this. Everything else is somewhat secondary to me.

          Bring back the trumpet solos.

          Bring back Mickey Mouse.

          That is all.

Both of you are acting quite childish though.
I'm well aware of the fact he was out of town for the game (thankfully). If he was in town, he wouldn't have gone. And has said so in such in multiple threads at multiple times this year. So your last sentence is completely false. And even if it were true, it would go straight into the "I want a prime seat but don't wanna pay for it" crowd. There were plenty of chances to get good seats at $17. But that's only possible if one is open to the idea of upper-level seats at a sporting event. Believe it or not Sub, those types of seats are at every major sporting event in this country. And guess what Sub? They get occupied too. Who'd a thunk it??????!!?!??!??!

                    • I wouldn't have the patience to deal with angry, bitter people like yourself ShockerFever who have nothing better to do than to spend their lives complaining.

So you are saying that "sports marketing" means promoting to future fans at the expense of the current fans who, you know, currently have the ability to funnel money into the sports program?

I think you saw an opportunity to say "sports marketing" but didn't think it through well.

                        • I think the idea that this video is "good enough" is pervasive in many of this thread's posts. Question: if we can't make it great or even just "good," why do it at all? Having anything that doesn't get the crowd excited just moments before the game starts seems like a horrible idea.

And I'm not sure if the sound at IBA was bad, but the Marshall video right after BatWu was a bit anticlimactic--the entire crowd has to stand absolutely silent in order to have any chance to hear what is being said.

On the other end of the spectrum, the intro videos are pretty damn good.

                          • And why is WU-shock Batman in the first place??? Would have been better if he was Thor or the Green Lantern and had Coleman be the sponsor!!!!

                            • Shox-er. If you know so much about Sports Marketing, then you know college sports won't even exist in 20 years, when all colleges go on-line. So why worry about trying to recruit younger fans, We need to worry about the current fans before college sports dries up!

WHy did they get rid of Mickey Mouse at the end of the game? When I played in the band back in the 90's we did it. I agree that we need to bring it back!
