In my opinion, the Bat Wu video is a small problem when compared with the timing issues, and the band issues. First things first.

You aren't doing this for the kids, you are doing it for the 10,500 in attendance (which is 99% adults). Keep playing the video, that's fine. Just don't do it at this moment.Last edited by shox-er; November 28, 2011, 02:52 PM.

I'm not sure WSU crowds are the organized cheer/chant kind of crowds generally. The loudest "prodded" cheers come when they turn the Shock-O-Meter on or they toss T-Shirts or Mini Basket Balls into the crowd.
In my view, WSU crowds seem to be more spontaneous crowds who react to the play on the floor. Sometimes getting behind the team when they are going well and sometimes pushing the team when things are not going so well and, all-in-all I think the fan base does pretty well in knowing when to bring the heat. I do think having the pep band well-organized with good music selections and with good timing can be and should be a very important part of this. Everything else is somewhat secondary to me.Last edited by 1972Shocker; November 28, 2011, 05:29 PM.

Both of you are acting quite childish though.
This is a message board. Nothing has to be serious and church-like in here all of the time. You don't want this place to be like the morgue that is Bradleyfans.com, do you?Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

RIP Guy Always A Shocker
Carpenter Place - A blessing to many young girls/women
ICT S.O.S - Great local cause fighting against human trafficking
Wartick Insurance Agency - Saved me money with more coverage.

I think you saw an opportunity to say "sports marketing" but didn't think it through well. The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

I think the idea that this video is "good enough" is pervasive in many of this thread's posts. Question: if we can't make it great or even just "good," why do it at all? Having anything that doesn't get the crowd excited just moments before the game starts seems like a horrible idea.
And I'm not sure if the sound at IBA was bad, but the Marshall video right after BatWu was a bit anticlimactic--the entire crowd has to stand absolutely silent in order to have any chance to hear what is being said.
On the other end of the spectrum, the intro videos are pretty damn good. The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

Shox-er. If you know so much about Sports Marketing, then you know college sports won't even exist in 20 years, when all colleges go on-line. So why worry about trying to recruit younger fans, We need to worry about the current fans before college sports dries up!
