They would have called it with 1.9 seconds remaining.

Only fitting that the last box score of the year is of Creighton losing in March.

                  The balls quit bouncing
                  The season is over
                  They're sending us home
                  We're running scared
                  We're a fading star
                  Panic is rampant
                  We always knew

It is infinitely better to intervene and slow the spread. If you have all the cases in a short amount of time, the healthcare system will become overloaded and unable to handle it, and many more people will die. Even assistance to those without the virus will be affected, as care will be spread much more thin. That is the primary goal of many of these distancing measures.

You do know that almost everyone that is infected with this virus will need no medical treatment at all don't you?

If you run the numbers on the ones that do need medical treatment, however, there aren't enough ICU beds in the country to handle the number of patients this thing is forecasted to require. Like, by a significant margin.

Add to it the number of medical personnel who will get sick themselves (or at home with kids whose school is cancelled), and we're staring down the barrel of a huge problem. Anything we can do to ameliorate the issue is wise.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.
