I have worked in the legal field for about 16 years and most of them in Sedgwick County. Watching all of the elections through the years, I have noticed and have been told by canidates themselves that when voting for Judge, a good number vote by name recognition and nothing else.

I don't live in Sedgwick, but I've had the pleasure of having dinner once with Dave, Mike, their lovely wives and two others in STL. As corny as he is on the radio at times, he's a really good guy and it was a blast to experience them all while off the air. Pretty sure Mike and Dave knew everyone else at the table, but I was treated extremely well and he was very engaging and honestly wanted my thoughts and persepectives on things. It was easily the highlight of my trip and based on how he interacted with everyone, including me, I can't imagine there being a better representative for judge. He acknowledged me in passing a couple of times as well, not that he remembers me at all or not, but he's left a heck of an impression on me.

As other have said, he's a sharp, sincere and polite individual. Doesn't appear to have any sort of ego that would interfere with anything.

I'll miss hearing him on the radio before and after games. And for any games that I may have to miss for whatever reasons. He'll make a great judge.

This is a sad way to lose an election... Faith Maughan may have made a good judge, but no one will ever know now. Shocker Nation unite!

"Our opponent in this campaign is a radio sports commentator. His campaign has asked Faith to abandon her right to equal access to the public airways during his broadcasts. Faith has no objection to our opponent continuing his sports broadcast career. However, consistent with Faith's commitment to the Rule of Law, we have declined to relinquish our legal right to equal time on th epublic airways. As a result the radio station has made the decision not to allow our opponent to continue his sports commentary during the campaign."

"Good day for the Faith Maughan for judge campaign. Discussed campaign over lunch with former Sg Co GOP chair, Kelly Arnold and had a meeting with the campaign committee tonight. Our message of renewing America close to home through the election of local officials who are committed to the Constitution and a revitalized dedication to the principles upon which this country was founded, is resonating with the people. In contrast, our opponent's supporters are upset that his decision to run for judge will interfere with career as a sports announcer."

Does this twit not realize that Dave Dahl is not the one crying over this? It's us.. the VOTERS... that are crying over this. And guess what Faith? We CAN whine about it because it is US that will decide YOUR fate.

I think that is probably true. From that standpoint Faith has already gained some name recognition. Prior to this I had never heard of Faith Maughan. However, I'm still voting for Dave and yes I do know Dave personally. Top shelf all the way. Unfortunately for Faith not only does Dave have an advantage in name recognition but he also has is well known personally by many, many of Wichita's movers, shakers, doers and Shockers and also by quite a few nobodies like me.

A career sports caster? Hell I thought he was a lawyer that enjoyed being around the program that I love. Damn, and all this time he was a career sports caster moonlighting as a lawyer. I suppose I'll still have to vote for him even though my image of him has been shattered.

I wrote a response to that post saying if she really had no objection to her opponent continuing his sports career then she wouldnt have restricted him from doing so, etc etc. She deleted it within an hour! HA

Dave should make a great judge. He seemed to remain on an even keel about the refs, even when his counterpart and the fans were all over them. Seems like he has an ability to remain objective to me....

Odd. I don't see a single post on here complaining about his decision to run for judge. Nor a single one complaining that his decision to do so at the peril of not getting to do his hobby makes it a bad decision.

What I do see LOUD and CLEAR is that her demand for one hour of airtime to talk about her campaign for each one hour that he talks about WSU basketball is not a very popular decision because it's neither fair or necessary.

Snarky ass attempts to spin the fallout from your own decisions won't make ya popular. There's a higher ground she could have taken in response.

Anyone know how many votes are normally cast is elections for these judges? I'm guess not very many couple thousand maybe? I know I would not have cared or even voted if it weren't for this. I'll be pushing everyone I know in person and online to go out and vote for Dave because of this.

Yeah, I did notice that yesterday. Why post it if it's going to take you to godaddy.com ads? I don't think she realizes that you have to do more than pay $9.99 for the domain name...you also have to pay someone to develop a page and host it.

I don't know voter turnout but I imagine it'd be pretty low. Your estimate is probably accurate.

And ditto on everything else. I will now be a voter in this race and so will a lot of people I know that normally wouldn't have.
