I always enjoyed Dave on air and while I was attending WSU. He is a great guy and seemed to really enjoy students and shocker fans in general. He is one of those guys who will leave a lasting impression on me. I think it is a rare quality to have, but he has it. I would vote for him too if I was in Wichita.

Washburn grad. Doesn't matter, won't vote for any NE KS snob. Generalization I know, but this pisses me off.

Have to agree with everyone else -- his opponent is perfectly within her rights to do this, but not very smart to do so. Dave is very well known and wouldn't become any more so by being on the broadcasts again; meanwhile, she can't hope to get anything but poor PR. Best wishes to future Judge Dahl, but even in the unlikely event he loses the worst that would happen is that he'll be back on the air.

            She used poor judge-ment.

Sorry, been too close to Branson for too long.

Dave is a good family man, has raised good kids and will be missed...this year. Probably isn't a permanent good bye, but farewell for now. See ya soon buddy!

Just guaranteed that I won't even listen to her stance on any thing and just vote for Dave.

Since Dave Dahl has been doing this for 31 years, any advantage he would gain in name familiarity would be so well cemented by now that being off the air for this season would likely do little to impact those people who might vote for him based on that familiarity. Furthermore, as @Shockair: just demonstrated, there are some who will gain a negative impression of her for keeping him off the air.

Once again, I don't think it is actually petty or illegitimate for Ms. Maugham to exercise her rights, but I'm not sure it was very well thought through.
I agree completely - horrible decision on her part. Also, her name "Faith" is easy to remember so if she loses this election she may well see "protest votes" against her in future elections.

When people already know your opponent in an election, the trick is to get yourself known, too -- not to try to make everyone forget that they know the other guy. Unfortunately for Faith, the rest of the trick is to get yourself known in a positive way, and that horse is already out of the barn and isn't coming back.

                      Very NOT cool.

She might as well bow out now and save the effort. She's as good as done.

Brilliant! To hell with qualifications. Vote for a basketball voice on the radio. It's no wonder this country is so screwed-up.

If you have met Dave Dahl, or talked to Dave Dahl, it wouldn't take much to win your vote. If you spend more than 1 hr researching every candidate for every postion for every election, and that is total not per election, you would be ahead of 99% of people because all you would learn is the political speak and not actually what they want or where they stand.

Downtown, your post gives a legitimate reason to vote for Dave Dahl, or any other candidate for that matter. It's a vote based on the issues as opposed to a vote based on; because he's a Shocker radio guy who can't be on the radio anymore so now I'm mad because I'm a Shocker fan and I don't care about his position on the issues because he's a Shocker radio guy and I'm mad because he can't be on the radio anymore because I'm a Shocker fan.

Now I'll climb down off my soap box.

That is one loooooong sentence right there.

Keep in mind that a large percent of the posters here travel to some away games and the MVC tournament each year and have met Dave Dahl and other people (not saying they are on a first name basis but have had enough interaction to draw an opinion on his personality [soft-spoken, polite, courteous, genuine, etc]).

Many of the people complaining on here know that DD is unlikely to use his position as a b-ball color guy to gain a political advantage over the airwaves -- he doesn't have to. Many of the people here are very much biased, and why the heck shouldn't they be? They have, in some cases, 30 years of experience of interacting or getting a feel for his personality.

His opponent may be awesome. She might have perfect qualifications. But I have never met her. The only thing I have to judge her on at this point is the one public decision I am aware about. The one that affects me. That's her uphill battle for Shockernetters at this point. We may be small in numbers though and it might not effect her one bit.
